Steel Sheet & Plate & Shipbuilding Steel Plate,CCS、ABS、DNV、BV、LR、NK、KR、RINA
1. Product Overview
Shipbuilding steel plate is a special structural steel exclusively used for ship construction and offshore engineering. Produced in compliance with GB/T 712-2022 and specifications of major international classification societies, it serves as the core raw material for ship hull shells, decks, bulkheads, bottom plates, side plates, superstructures, support frames of offshore platforms and all kinds of marine steel structures.
Distinct from ordinary carbon steel plates and low-alloy steel plates, ship plates undergo special refining, strict control over harmful impurities, temperature-controlled rolling and professional toughness enhancement processes. They are specially developed to withstand harsh marine operating conditions including heavy salt fog, high humidity, repeated wave impact, alternating fatigue loads and low-temperature sea areas. The steel boasts exclusive properties such as seawater corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, lamellar tearing resistance, superior low-temperature impact toughness, outstanding weldability and ultra-stable structural performance, making it the only qualified load-bearing structural steel for the shipbuilding industry.
2. Core Product Characteristics
Extremely low harmful impuritiesSulfur and phosphorus contents are rigorously controlled to achieve high internal steel purity free of slag inclusion and delamination, which effectively avoids cracking and lamellar tearing of hulls during long-term service.
Excellent low-temperature impact toughnessGrades D, E and EH maintain high impact energy at -20℃ and -40℃, resisting cold brittle fracture when navigating northern sea areas, deep seas and frigid zones.
Powerful anti-fatigue and anti-impact performanceThe steel copes with alternating loads caused by continuous wave beating, hull swaying and navigation vibration, retaining stable structure without deformation or fracture after long-term operation.
Perfect weldabilityDesigned with low carbon equivalent, the steel features low susceptibility to welding cold cracks. It is suitable for large-area continuous hull welding and thick plate welding, delivering smooth weld formation and consistent strength that meet the highest welding standards for ship construction.
Excellent marine corrosion resistanceAdjusted alloy composition improves resistance against salt fog, dampness and seawater immersion, slowing hull rusting and aging to extend vessel service life.
Full compliance with classification society certificationsFormal ship inspection certificates can be supplied for each batch, passing acceptance of mainstream global classification societies including CCS (China), ABS (USA), DNV (Norway), BV (France), LR (UK), KR (South Korea), NK (Japan) and RINA (Italy).
3. Applicable Standards & Certification System
National Standard of China: GB/T 712-2022 Structural Steels for Ships and Offshore EngineeringInternational Codes: Unified Rules of IACS (International Association of Classification Societies)Certifications: CCS / ABS / DNV / BV / LR / KR / NK / RINA
4. Detailed Steel Grades & Grade Classification
(1) Normal-strength ship plates (235MPa level)
Grades: A, B, D, E
Grade A: Impact tested at ambient temperature, applied to common hull structures, decks, superstructures and non-critical components
Grade B: Impact tested at 0℃, the most versatile grade for hull side plates, bulkheads and auxiliary structures
Grade D: Impact tested at -20℃ low temperature, used for outer hull plates, bottom plates and key load-bearing parts of deep-sea vessels
Grade E: Impact tested at -40℃ ultra-low temperature, adopted for core structures of ocean-going and polar vessels
(2) High-strength ship plates (32/36/40MPa grades, mainstream for export)
32 series: AH32, DH32, EH32
36 series: AH36, DH36, EH36 (largest market demand and regular stock availability)
40 series: AH40, DH40, EH40 (ultra-high strength dedicated to offshore engineering)
Meaning of letter symbols:
AH: Ambient temperature grade, suitable for temperate sea areas
DH: -20℃ low-temperature grade, applicable to offshore and cold sea areas
EH: -40℃ ultra-low temperature grade, for ocean-going, frigid zone and deep-sea engineering
High-strength ship plates are mainly applied to primary load-bearing structures of large bulk carriers, container ships, oil tankers, chemical tankers, engineering vessels, offshore wind power platforms, drilling rigs and marine steel structures.
5. Advantages of Production Process
High-purity molten iron refining → Ultra-low S&P control → Flawless continuous casting slab process → Uniform high-temperature heating → Precise temperature-controlled rolling → Heat treatment (normalizing / controlled rolling) → Flattening and straightening → 100% full-plate ultrasonic flaw detection → Random sampling for mechanical and impact tests → Metallographic inspection → Re-inspection and certification by classification societies → Mark spraying and warehousing
The finished plates feature uniform internal microstructure, low internal stress, zero delamination, blowholes and inclusions, fully satisfying strict acceptance standards for shipbuilding.
