Product Description
BS 476-4 is a non-combustibility test for building materials, generally for non-combustible materials or inorganic materials, organic materials or plastic materials are not applicable, please refer to the product range specified in the standard:
BS 476-4 Non-combustibility test - Product range:
This British standard specifies the test method for determining whether building materials are non-combustible.
According to the performance structure of the non-combustibility test, the materials used in building structures and surfaces are divided into "non-combustible" and "combustible".
This test is intended for building materials, regardless of whether the surface contains a coating, but not for a simple coating.
How to prepare samples for BS 476-4 test of building materials? Please refer to the following sample dimensions:
Three samples must be prepared, and the dimensions of each sample are as follows:
Length and width: m
Height: 50±3mm,
Volume: 800±50cm3
Tips on cylindrical thickness and diameter:
If the thickness of the material is less than the specified height, each sample must be stacked by enough samples to this thickness. These sample layers must be placed flat in the sample holder and tied with fine wire to avoid gaps between layers, but they must not be compressed. The density of the sample must represent the actual density of the material.
For composite materials, if the required sample size cannot be achieved by stacking integer layers, the thickness of different components can be adjusted to make the proportion of each component in the sample the same as the material being tested. If neither of the above two methods is feasible, each independent component layer is tested separately and reported separately.
Before testing, the sample needs to be cured:
Before testing, the sample must be baked in a ventilated oven at 60±5℃ for 24 hours, and then cooled to room temperature in a desiccating dish containing anhydrous calcium chloride.
