Foam Glass Insulation Material EN 13167 EU CE Certification
Definition of Foam Glass: Foam glass is also called porous glass or foam glass. It is a kind of insulating glass with a porosity of more than 90% and composed of uniform pores. Because its pore structure has the physical properties of borosilicate, it is used as an insulating material with the characteristics of being airtight, non-combustible, non-deformable, non-deteriorating, and non-contaminating food. Therefore, it is not only used as a non-combustible insulation material indoors and outdoors, but also used in food freezing and fermentation and brewing equipment, and the buoy of liquid level gauges. The manufacture of foamed glass adopts the powder sintering method, adding a foaming agent to glass micropowder and mixing, heating in a hot container, expanding and annealing to obtain the finished product.
²Why does foam glass need CE certification?
The significance of certification for export to the EU:
ŸMarket access: CE certification is a mandatory requirement for foam glass insulation materials to enter the EU market. Products that have not obtained certification are not allowed to circulate in the EU market. Certification can ensure the legal sale of products in the EU market.
ŸQuality assurance: Strict testing and review during the certification process ensures the quality and performance of foam glass insulation materials, enabling them to meet the requirements of building insulation and heat insulation, providing users with reliable insulation solutions, and improving the credibility and competitiveness of products in the market.
Compliance with regulatory requirements: Proving that the product meets the requirements of EU building regulations for insulation materials in terms of safety, environmental protection, health, etc., helps to ensure the quality and safety of construction projects and promote the sustainable development of the construction industry.
²According to the EN 13167CE coordination standard, the following tests are required for foam glass to be certified for EN 13167:
ŸReaction fire performance test: Fire performance test is carried out according to the EN 13501-1 standard to evaluate the reaction of foam glass insulation materials in the event of fire, such as combustion performance, flame spread speed, smoke production, etc., to determine its fire protection level and ensure that it can meet the corresponding fire safety requirements in building use. (Required items)
ŸThermal resistance and thermal conductivity test: Measuring the thermal resistance and thermal conductivity of foam glass insulation materials is crucial for evaluating its thermal insulation performance. Accurate thermal resistance and thermal conductivity data can help determine the insulation effect of the material under different environmental conditions, thereby ensuring the energy efficiency and comfort of the building.
ŸDimensional stability test: Detect the dimensional changes of the material under different temperature and humidity conditions. Foam glass insulation materials with good dimensional stability can maintain their original shape and size during long-term use, avoid cracking and falling of the insulation layer due to dimensional changes, and ensure the integrity and stability of the insulation system.
Tensile strength test parallel to the surface: Evaluate the tensile strength of foam glass insulation materials in the direction parallel to the surface. Sufficient tensile strength can prevent the material from breaking or being damaged when subjected to external forces, ensuring the reliability of the insulation material during installation and use, especially when subjected to wind loads, earthquake forces, etc., to maintain the stability of its structure.
