Let me Tell You the Difference Between ISO 12952-1 and ISO 12952-2 Flame Retardant Tests in One Minute
Differences:
ØDifferent ignition sources;
ŸISO 12952-1 uses a smoldering cigarette as an ignition source, ignites the cigarette and allows it to burn fully.
ŸISO 12952-2 uses a fire source such as a match flame to ignite it on the sample.
ØDifferent observation of phenomena:
ŸISO 12952-1 focuses on testing the anti-combustion performance of bedding when facing a smoldering source, observing whether there will be progressive smoldering or detectable smoke, heat and luminescence. It mainly takes into account some potential, slow-initiating combustion situations, such as the possibility of slow combustion after being contacted by an incompletely extinguished cigarette butt.
ŸISO 12952-2 mainly evaluates the combustion reaction of bedding after encountering a relatively strong open flame source. It requires that after the ignition source is removed, the flame cannot continue to burn for more than 120 seconds, and within 15 minutes after the ignition source is removed, there should be no smoldering or externally detectable smoke, heat or luminescence. This standard focuses more on the safety assessment of more obvious flame exposure that may occur.
