NFPA 701 Test
NFPA 701 is a flame retardant performance test standard for textiles and films developed by the National Fire Protection Association. It is widely used in curtains, draperies, awnings and other materials in public places. The standard is divided into two test methods (Method 1 and Method 2), but how to choose the test method suitable for the product?
Ø Determined based on the scope of application of the two test methods:
Test Method 1:
Applicable to fabrics and door curtains, draperies, or other window covering materials
Applicable to single-layer fabrics and multi-layer door curtains and draperies that are tightly connected by sewing, gluing, etc., and vinyl coated fabrics must be tested using Test Method 2.
Applicable to the following products:
1) Table skirts
2) Tablecloths
3) Booth partitions
4) Textile wall curtains
Test Method 2:
Applicable to fabrics with flat surface and surface area greater than 700g/m2 including multi-layer fabrics, films, plastic curtains, etc.
Applicable to vinyl coated fabric blackout linings and lined curtains using vinyl coated fabric blackout linings.
Applicable to plastic film, whether or not reinforced or backed, used for decoration or other purposes inside buildings, or as temporary or permanent enclosures for buildings under construction
Applicable to awnings, tents, tarpaulins and similar architectural fabric structures and banners
