RTV Tin Curing Silicone Rubber is Selected for the Production of Decorative Handicrafts
The application scenarios of RTV tin-cured silicone rubber are very extensive. In the field of jewelry replication, it can completely replicate the exquisite patterns and unique shapes of antique jewelry for mass production of jewelry with historical charm. In the production of resin handicrafts, molds of various shapes can be made. Whether it is the shape of fantastical animals or abstract artistic forms, they can all be transformed from design to finished products through it. For some natural materials, such as shells and leaves, RTV tin-cured silicone rubber can also be used to make molds, preserving their natural textures and unique shapes, and thereby creating distinctive decorative items.
Detailed explanation of the production process
Prototype preparation
The first step in making molds for decorative handicrafts is to prepare prototypes. The prototype can be a hand-carved model, a 3D printed work, or a natural object. Ensure that the surface of the prototype is clean, smooth and free of oil stains. If the surface is not flat enough, sandpaper can be used for grinding. For water-absorbing materials, a mold release agent should be applied to prevent the silicone rubber from adhering to the prototype.
Blending and pouring
If two-component RTV tin-cured silicone rubber is used, it must be mixed strictly in accordance with the proportion specified in the product manual. Use an electronic scale to accurately weigh components A and B, pour them into a clean container, and stir them thoroughly in the same direction with a stirring rod until they are well mixed. During the stirring process, try to avoid generating bubbles. If bubbles do appear, they can be left to stand for a period of time to expel themselves, or treated with a vacuum deaerator. Build a fence around the prototype, with the height of the fence higher than that of the prototype. Then, slowly pour the prepared silicone rubber into the fence to evenly cover the prototype. During the pouring process, control the speed to avoid the formation of new bubbles.
Curing and demolding
After the pouring is completed, let the mold stand at room temperature to cure. The curing time varies depending on the characteristics of the silicone rubber and the ambient temperature, generally ranging from several hours to over ten hours. After complete curing, carefully remove the enclosure, starting from the edge of the mold, and slowly separate it from the prototype. For molds with complex structures, demolding tools can be used to assist in demolding to ensure the integrity of the molds.
