Making resin cement replication molds with AB liquid silicone rubber is an ideal solution that balances precision and durability. Resin cement (such as resin-modified cement and polymer cement) features high strength and easy molding, but it has high requirements for the detailed restoration ability of the mold, weather resistance and smooth demolding during replication. AB liquid silicone rubber (two-component) can perfectly meet these requirements through precise proportioning and curing. The following is an explanation from aspects such as compatibility analysis, operation process, and optimization techniques:
I. Core Advantages of AB liquid silicone rubber in compatibility with Resin Cement
AB liquid silicone rubber (divided into A-component base rubber and B-component curing agent) has significant advantages over one-component silicone rubber in the resin cement replication scenario:
Controllable curing process: By adjusting the ratio of components A and B (commonly 1:1, 10:1), the curing speed can be precisely controlled (adjustable from 2 hours to 24 hours at room temperature of 25℃), which is suitable for the mold making of complex shapes (such as cement reliefs, irregular components), avoiding insufficient detail filling due to excessive curing speed.
Excellent chemical resistance: Resin cement contains polymer emulsions (such as acrylate, epoxy resin) and cement-based components (alkaline). AB silicone rubber (especially addition-cured) is resistant to acid and alkali corrosion and will not cause mold swelling or cracking due to the alkalinity of cement or the chemical properties of resin. It can be reused 30 to 50 times.
Strength and toughness balance: After curing, it combines elasticity (not prone to cracking) and support (resistant to deformation). In the face of slight volume shrinkage (about 0.5% to 1%) during the curing of resin cement, it can buffer stress through its own elasticity, prevent mold cracking, and at the same time ensure the dimensional accuracy of the finished product.
High detail replication power: The fluidity can be adjusted by adding thixotropic agents (from low-viscosity self-leveling to high-viscosity non-flowing), which can not only deeply fill the fine textures of the prototype (such as wood grain, stone texture), but also stably support the mold structure of large components (such as cement flower POTS, landscape ornaments).
