1. Product Definition

Pressure Vessel Steel Plate (PV Plate), marked with suffix "R" for pressure vessel grade, is a special steel plate exclusively manufactured for boilers, pressure vessels, spherical tanks, heat exchangers, hydrogenation reactors, cryogenic storage tanks and other pressure-bearing special equipment. Strict control of sulfur and phosphorus impurities during smelting; mandatory low-temperature impact test, high-temperature tensile test and 100% ultrasonic non-destructive testing. It integrates high pressure resistance, wide temperature toughness, excellent weldability, hydrogen induced cracking resistance and sulfide corrosion resistance, serving as core safety material for special pressure equipment.

2. Main Grades & Service Conditions

2.1 Carbon PV Plate (Ambient & Medium-Low Pressure)

  1. Q245RMinimum yield strength ≥245MPa, service temperature -20℃ ~ 475℃, delivered hot rolled or normalized. Low impurity content, outstanding weldability and cost-effective.Application: Standard steam boilers, normal-temperature water storage tanks, low-pressure buffer tanks, small heat exchangers.

2.2 Low Alloy High Strength PV Plate (Most Widely Used)

  1. Q345R (Mainstream Grade)Yield strength ≥345MPa, qualified for -20℃ impact test, thickness range 6–200mm; HIC resistant grade Q345R(HIC) available.Application: Petrochemical storage tanks, boiler drums, shell & tube heat exchangers, spherical tanks, oil & gas separators, medium-pressure reactors.

  2. 13MnNiMoRExtra heavy high strength plate, thickness 8–300mm, reliable low-temperature toughness & H2S corrosion resistance, stable long-term service up to 500℃.Application: Large spherical tanks, coal-to-oil hydrogenation reactors, power station high-pressure drums, heavy pressure shells.

  3. Q460R / Q460DR460MPa high strength grade; Q460DR suitable for cryogenic service down to -40℃, realize lightweight thin-wall design.Application: CO2 storage tanks, propane cryogenic refrigeration equipment, large chemical pressure cylinders.

2.3 Cr-Mo Heat Resistant PV Plate (High Temp & High Pressure Hydrogenation Units)

  1. 15CrMoRCr-Mo heat-resistant alloy steel, maximum long-term service temperature 550℃, excellent anti-creep and anti-oxidation performance at high temperature.Application: Refinery heating furnaces, high-temperature cracking heat exchangers, medium-high temperature reactors.

  2. 14Cr1MoR / 12Cr2Mo1RSpecialized for hydrogenation facilities, anti-hydrogen embrittlement & high-temperature sulfidation corrosion, stable operation at 580℃.Application: Coal-to-oil hydrocracking units, reforming reactors, high-pressure hydrogenation autoclaves.

2.4 Low-Temperature Cryogenic PV Plate

09MnNiDR / 15MnNiDRNickel alloy tempered steel, maintains high impact toughness at -40℃ ~ -70℃ to avoid brittle fracture under ultra-low temperature.Application: LNG storage tanks, liquid oxygen & liquid nitrogen tanks, low-temperature gas separation equipment.

3. Heat Treatment Delivery Status

  1. Hot Rolled / Controlled Rolling (TMCP): Standard for thin plate ≤16mm, uniform grain structure, lower cost; Q345R plates over 36mm thickness require mandatory normalizing.

  2. Normalizing: Standard process for medium & heavy plates, refine grain and greatly improve low-temperature impact toughness.

  3. Normalizing + Tempering: For heavy plates, Cr-Mo heat resistant plates and cryogenic plates, release internal rolling stress and enhance high-temperature creep resistance.

  4. Quenching + Tempering: For ultra-high strength heavy plates and anti-corrosion equipment with hydrogen & H2S medium.
