1 Product Introduction
The High Capacity Mining Thickener is a state of the art solid liquid separation system engineered to process massive volumes of mineral slurries within industrial ore dressing and aggregate plants. Designed to outperform conventional sedimentation equipment, this high efficiency system utilizes advanced feedwell dynamics and deep bed compaction technology to accelerate the settling rate of suspended solids. It is widely applied in large scale operations for copper, gold, iron ore, coal, and industrial minerals to perform pre leaching concentration, concentrate dewatering, and tailings management. By rapidly producing a dense underflow slurry and a highly clarified overflow liquid, it enables mining operations to maximize water reclamation and minimize environmental management costs.
2 Working Principle
The equipment continuously separates solids from liquids by combining mechanical rake action with accelerated chemical flocculation and gravity sedimentation.
Dynamic Mixing and Flocculation: The low density mineral slurry enters the thickener through a specially engineered high capacity feedwell. Simultaneously, a precise amount of chemical flocculant is injected. The specialized internal geometry of the feedwell promotes uniform, low shear mixing, causing fine particles to rapidly collide and aggregate into large, heavy structures called flocs.
Zoned Settling and Compaction: The flocculated slurry moves outward and downward into the main settling basin. Due to their increased mass, the flocs overcome upward fluid currents and sink rapidly to the bottom, forming a dense mud bed. As subsequent layers settle, the weight of the upper bed continuously compresses the lower material, squeezing trapped water out of the solids.
Dual Stream Discharge: The displaced clear liquid rises to the top of the vessel and continuously overflows through the peripheral launder, ready for direct closed loop reuse in the plant. At the same time, a heavy duty, high torque drive mechanism rotates the rake assembly, smoothly plowing the compacted underflow sludge toward the central discharge cone where it is pumped out for downstream filtration or disposal.
3 Characteristics
Exceptional Throughput with Low Footprint: Featuring an optimized structural and hydraulic design, this system achieves up to several times the settling rate per unit area compared to traditional thickeners, allowing mines to process high tonnages using a much smaller equipment footprint.
Superior Underflow Densification: Equipped with heavy duty rake structures and automated high torque drive systems, the thickener consistently delivers exceptionally dense underflow muds, reducing the workload and operating costs of subsequent pumping and filtration stages.
High Efficiency Water Reclamation: The advanced fluid dynamics minimize internal turbulence and solids carryover. This ensures that the overflow water remains highly clarified, allowing plants to recycle up to ninety percent of their process water and comply with zero liquid discharge regulations.
Intelligent Automation and Protection: The system is outfitted with smart instruments that monitor bed level, mud density, and drive torque in real time. The automated control loop dynamically adjusts flocculant dosing and underflow pump speeds while an automatic rake lifting mechanism prevents structural overloads during process surges.
Rugged Construction and Low Maintenance: Built with high strength structural steel and lined with specialized wear resistant and anti corrosive materials at critical contact zones, the thickener is fully equipped to withstand highly abrasive ore slurries and harsh industrial environments for an extended service life.
