1 Product Introduction
The Flotation Tailings Thickener is a highly efficient industrial solid-liquid separation equipment specifically engineered for mineral processing applications. Positioned at the final stage of the flotation circuit, this advanced machine treats large volumes of low-density slurry containing substantial amounts of water. By utilizing gravity sedimentation enhanced by chemical flocculation, the thickener rapidly concentrates fine tailings into a high-density underflow while recovering clear water as overflow. It serves as a vital component for modern mines to achieve sustainable water recycling, dry tailings stack preparation, and environmentally compliant zero-discharge operations.
2 Working Principle
The operation of the Flotation Tailings Thickener relies on the combined mechanisms of gravitational settling and optimized chemical aggregation
Flocculant Reaction: Before entering the thickener, the low-concentration tailings slurry is mixed thoroughly with a precise dosage of flocculant. The chemical polymers bind with fine suspended solid particles, rapidly gathering them into large, heavy aggregates known as flocs.
Center Well Feeding: The conditioned slurry is introduced gently into the thickener through a specially designed central feedwell. The feedwell dissipates kinetic energy and directs the slurry below the clear water zone to prevent disturbing the already settled bed.
Gravity Sedimentation: Driven by gravitational forces, the heavy flocs overcome liquid resistance and settle rapidly toward the tank bottom, creating a dense mud layer. Meanwhile, clear water separates and displaces upward.
Overflow and Underflow Discharge: The clarified water reaches the top and smoothly exits the tank via peripheral launder weirs for direct reuse in the plant. Simultaneously, a continuously rotating rake mechanism sweeps the dense mud towards the central discharge cone, where a heavy-duty underflow pump transfers it to downstream filtration or tailings storage.

Excellent Water Recovery: Produces high-clarity overflow water that can be directly recycled into upstream flotation circuits, substantially lowering freshwater consumption and operational utility costs.
Robust and Wear-Resistant Construction: Engineered explicitly for abrasive and corrosive tailings environments, all critical wear components feature premium alloy structures or specialized protective linings, guaranteeing extended equipment lifespans and minimized maintenance requirements.
