German technical background  VOK®-SL 315N leveling agent

VOK®-SL 315N is a silicone-containing surface additive for solventborne coatings and is particularly recommended for automotive coatings. Slightly reduces surface tension and improves surface slip. Does not whene after the varnish immersion test.

Polyester modified polymethylalkyl siloxane solution.

Non-volatile (30 min., 150 °C): 25% 

Solvent: propylene glycol methyl ether acetate / glycol phenyl ether = 1/1 

Flash point: 51 °C 

Storage and transportation 

When storage and transport temperatures below -5 °C, turbidity and delamination may occur. Heat to 20 °C and stir well before use.

Features and benefits 

This additive slightly reduces the surface tension of the coating system, thereby improving flow and leveling and, in some formulations, defoaming. At the same time, it prevents the formation of Benard vortices and increases the luster. The additive does not whene after the varnish immersion test.

Recommended dosage 0.05-0.6 % Additive dosage (form of supply) is based on total formulation. 

The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the appropriate dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests 

Addition method and processing guidance 

The additive can be added at any stage of production, including post-adding. 

Special reminder 

Unlike ordinary silicone fluids, the additive is "user safe". However, before use, a series of tests should be carried out to confirm whether the additive is foam stabilizing, in addition to evaluating its recoating and crater tendencies.
