1 Product Overview

Horizontal Self-cleaning Filter is a pressure-bearing fully automatic mechanical filter. Medium flows horizontally straight into the cylinder. Contaminants are trapped on the inner side of metal screen while clarified water flows horizontally to outlet. When dirt buildup raises differential pressure between inlet and outlet, control system activates cleaning cycle. Drive motor rotates brush/suction assembly to sweep screen surface; blowdown valve opens simultaneously to discharge sludge. Filtration remains continuous without shutdown.

Different from vertical self-cleaning filters, horizontal layout fits low-headroom pump rooms and skid-mounted systems. Compared with bag & security cartridge filters, it requires no frequent element replacement. Ideal for large-flow continuous filtration with high suspended solids load, widely used for cooling water and raw water pre-treatment pipelines.

3 Working Principle

Raw water enters horizontally and permeates outward through screen. Solid particles larger than nominal rating are trapped on inner screen surface; clean water flows toward downstream pipeline.Contaminant cake gradually increases inlet-outlet differential pressure. When DP reaches preset limit or timing cycle expires, self-cleaning sequence activates:Motor drives cleaning unit rotating axially to strip accumulated sludge; blowdown valve opens to discharge impurities under pipeline pressure.Blowdown valve closes upon cycle completion, filter resumes normal filtration. The whole process runs automatically in loops; manual override mode is available on demand.

6 Installation, Commissioning & Maintenance Specification

Install strictly horizontally following flow marking. Maintain minimum 5×DN straight pipe sections upstream & downstream to minimize turbulence.A coarse strainer is recommended upstream to avoid heavy debris damaging screen. Install isolation valves and reserve access space for maintenance.Flush internal welding residues before initial water filling. Set cleaning differential pressure, cycle duration and blowdown delay parameters during commissioning.Routinely inspect electric signals, motor noise and valve actuation status. During annual overhaul, check screen abrasion and gasket aging.Run full cleaning cycle and drain all residual water before long-term shutdown to avoid sludge hardening and screen corrosion.
