Product Description

Introduction

The Log Washer and Trommel Combination System is a two-stage washing solution specifically designed for ores and aggregates with high clay content and strong clay adhesion. By integrating a Trommel Scrubber with a Log Washer, the system creates a highly efficient processing route featuring "coarse washing by trommel scrubber + intensive cleaning by log washer."

This configuration is specially developed for materials containing high levels of clay (typically ≥20%), high plasticity clay, and feed materials that cannot be effectively cleaned by a single-stage washing machine.

The system is widely used in aggregate production, mineral processing plants (such as gold ore, iron ore, manganese ore, and bauxite), as well as construction and demolition (C&D) waste recycling operations. For extremely difficult materials with clay content exceeding 50%, this combined solution is recognized as one of the most effective washing methods available.

Working Principle

The washing process consists of two closely connected stages:

Stage 1: Trommel Scrubber – Coarse Washing and Pre-Screening

Raw material (typically ≤100 mm feed size) is fed into the inclined Trommel Scrubber. As the drum rotates, the material is lifted, tumbled, and subjected to continuous impact and friction. High-pressure spray water simultaneously washes the material, achieving preliminary disintegration and clay removal.

The screening sections installed along the drum perform size classification during the washing process. Fine material and slurry pass through the screen apertures and are discharged for further treatment, while the coarse fraction is conveyed to the next stage—the Log Washer.

Stage 2: Log Washer – Intensive Cleaning and Separation

The coarse material discharged from the Trommel Scrubber enters the Log Washer. Inside the inclined trough, two counter-rotating shafts equipped with heavy-duty wear-resistant paddles generate intense mixing, shearing, and attrition forces.

These forces thoroughly remove residual clay adhered to the aggregate surfaces. Clean coarse material is conveyed upward along the trough by the paddles and discharged from the upper outlet, while the separated clay and wash water form a slurry that exits through the lower overflow outlet, achieving complete separation of clay and aggregates.

Key Advantages

Powerful Combination for Difficult Materials

The Trommel Scrubber performs coarse washing and material disintegration, while the Log Washer provides intensive cleaning and separation. Together, they effectively process highly clay-bound and difficult-to-wash materials that cannot be handled efficiently by single-stage equipment. This combined process has been successfully applied in mining operations for more than 12 years.

Washing and Classification in One System

The Trommel Scrubber simultaneously performs washing and size classification, allowing the feed material to be separated into multiple size fractions while reducing overall process complexity.

Flexible Capacity Configuration

The system can be configured according to project requirements. When the capacity of a Trommel Scrubber exceeds that of a single Log Washer, a one-to-two arrangement can be adopted, where one Trommel Scrubber feeds two Log Washers through a bifurcated distribution hopper, maximizing overall system throughput.

Suitable for Extreme Conditions

Even when processing materials containing more than 50% clay, the system maintains stable washing performance and effectively prevents coarse material losses caused by insufficient settling and overflow discharge.

Reduced Load on Downstream Equipment

By removing large amounts of clay before crushing and screening stages, the system significantly reduces the risk of clay buildup and screen blockage, improving downstream equipment efficiency and extending service life.
