Introduction
The Log Washer Feeding System is a dedicated front-end feeding and pre-treatment solution designed to work in conjunction with a Log Washer. Its primary function is to deliver material to the lower feed end of the Log Washer in a stable, controlled, and continuous manner, ensuring efficient washing performance and reliable system operation.
A Log Washer is typically installed at an incline, with material entering at the lower end and being conveyed upward by counter-rotating paddles while undergoing intensive scrubbing. The Feeding System is specifically designed to accurately introduce material into this feed point and commonly incorporates pre-screening, feed buffering, and water regulation functions to maintain continuous and stable washing operations.
The system is widely used in mining, quarrying, aggregate production, and construction & demolition (C&D) waste recycling applications. It is particularly suitable for the pre-treatment of difficult materials with high clay content and strong adhesion.
Working Principle
The operation of the Log Washer Feeding System generally consists of the following stages:
1. Pre-Screening and Contaminant Removal
Raw material first passes through a pre-screening unit, where oversized material (typically larger than 100 mm or 150 mm) and a portion of fine material (such as particles smaller than 10 mm) are removed. This process helps prevent damage to the Log Washer paddles and improves overall scrubbing efficiency. Some systems may also include lightweight contaminant separation equipment.
2. Controlled Feeding and Conveying
After pre-treatment, the material is transferred by a vibrating feeder, belt conveyor, or chute and delivered to the lower feed end of the Log Washer at a uniform and continuous feed rate. Stable feeding prevents overloading, material surges, and performance losses caused by uneven material distribution.
3. Water Supply and Pre-Wetting
The feeding system is typically equipped with spray bars or a water injection system that pre-wets and partially rinses the material before it enters the Log Washer. Proper water addition helps establish the ideal slurry consistency within the washer, promoting clay dispersion and efficient removal through the overflow discharge.
