1. Product Overview
Shipbuilding steel plates are hot rolled structural steel plates specially used for hulls, offshore platforms, offshore wind power and floating marine equipment, certified by global classification societies. Subject to long-term seawater salt spray corrosion, alternating wave loads, low temperature and vibration impact, they feature outstanding low-temperature impact toughness, high fatigue strength, superior weldability, resistance to lamellar tearing and uniform metallographic structure, effectively avoiding hull cracking and brittle fracture during navigation. Widely applied to bulk carriers, container ships, oil tankers, LNG carriers, icebreakers and offshore drilling platforms.

2. Main Steel Grades, Grading & Application Conditions
2.1 Normal Strength Ship Plates (Yield ≥235MPa, Grade A/B/D/E)
Grade A: Impact test at 0℃; for inland vessels, non-critical superstructure parts
Grade B: Impact test at +20℃; decks & bulkheads of ordinary offshore vessels
Grade D: Impact test at -20℃; general hull structures of ocean-going ships
Grade E: Impact test at -40℃; hull shells operating in cold sea areas
2.2 High Strength 355MPa Grade (Most Popular, Yield ≥355MPa)
AH36: Impact at 0℃Application: Offshore vessels, decks, side shells, secondary platform components
DH36: Impact at -20℃Application: Main hull structures of ocean bulk carriers, container ships and oil tankers, bottom plates

2.4 Z-direction Performance Plates (Z15/Z25/Z35)

4. Complete Production Process
Steelmaking Refining: LF+VD double refining, strictly limit low S & P impurities to reduce cold brittleness and lamellar cracking risk, refine grain structure
Continuous casting slab production, surface grinding to remove subcutaneous defects
Uniform high-temperature heating, segmented temperature-controlled rolling (TMCP process)
Heat treatment: Controlled rolling / normalizing / tempering to stabilize low-temperature impact toughness
Shot blasting to remove oxide scale for convenient UT inspection & shipyard welding
Full physical-chemical mechanical tests + 100% ultrasonic testing; Z-direction tensile test for Z-grade plates
Witness inspection by classification society surveyors, marking spraying, cutting to fixed lengths, packing & warehousing
5. Mandatory Factory Inspection Items (Witnessed by Surveyors)
Spectral composition analysis: Strict control of carbon equivalent, S, P, Al, Nb, V micro-alloy elements
Mechanical tests: Room-temperature tensile, V-notch Charpy low-temperature impact at specified temperatures, hardness, 180° cold bending without cracks
Z-direction lamellar tearing test (for Z15/Z25/Z35 plates)
100% ultrasonic testing to detect internal lamination, shrinkage cavities, cracks and inclusions
Full visual inspection: Free of scabs, cracks, lamination, double skins and pits
Sampling witnessed by classification society, official marine inspection certificates issued
