Steel Wire Rope,1×3: Small‑size Precast Concrete Members for Short‑span Beams.
Full‑Specification Description of Prestressed Steel Strand
1.Product Overview
Prestressed steel strand is manufactured from high‑carbon 82B wire rod. Raw material is drawn into high‑strength single wires, twisted helically and stress‑relieved by stabilising treatment. The common structure is 1×7 (one central wire surrounded by six outer wires). Main types include plain, galvanized, epoxy‑coated and unbonded strands. Widely used in bridges, highway projects, high‑speed‑rail sleepers, foundation anchor bolts, slope stabilisation and large‑span buildings.
Applicable standards: GB/T5224‑2023, ASTM A416, BS5896.
2.Classification
2.1 Twisting Structure
1.1×7: General‑purpose for bridges, building beams and ground anchors. Common diameters:9.53 mm,12.70 mm,15.20 mm,17.80 mm.
2.1×3: Small‑size precast concrete members for short‑span beams.
3.1×19: Flexible type for mine roadway support and large‑diameter ground anchors.
2.2 Surface Treatment
1.Plain low‑relaxation bonded strand: Grout‑protected through corrugated ducts for ordinary civil engineering.
2.Galvanized steel strand: Anti‑corrosive for power‑line stay wires and coastal structures.
3.Epoxy‑coated strand: Full epoxy coating suitable for coastal salt‑spray and chemical‑corrosion sites.
4.Unbonded strand: Steel strand with permanent grease and HDPE outer sheath. Applied to post‑tensioned floor slabs without grouting.
2.3 Relaxation Grade
1.Normal relaxation: Out‑of‑date type with heavy long‑term prestress loss.
2.Low‑relaxation (LC): Standard commercial grade. 1000‑hour relaxation ≤2.5%. Small long‑term deformation under sustained load.
2.4 Model Mark
1×7‑15.20‑1860‑LC
1×7=structure;15.20 mm=nominal diameter;1860 MPa=tensile strength;LC=low‑relaxation grade.
3.Key Mechanical Data (1×7 type)
‑Nominal diameter:15.20 mm
‑Cross‑sectional area:140 mm²
‑Unit weight:1.101 kg/m
‑Available strength grades:1720 MPa,1860 MPa,1960 MPa (1860 MPa most common)
‑Minimum breaking load:260 kN
‑0.2% proof load ≥221 kN
‑Total elongation Agt≥3.5% to avoid brittle fracture
‑Modulus of elasticity:(1.95±0.10)×10⁵ MPa
‑Lay length:12‑16 times strand diameter, standard lay length 240‑270 mm, left‑hand lay.
4.Production Process
82B wire rod → Pickling & phosphating → Wire drawing → Stranding → Low‑temperature stabilising stress‑relief → Surface inspection → Coiling → Packing. Stabilising treatment achieves low‑relaxation performance.
5.Product Advantages
1.High tensile strength reduces concrete consumption and structural dead‑weight.
2.Low relaxation keeps stable prestress for long‑term service life.
3.Good flexibility for site threading and bending; excellent fatigue resistance for repeated traffic dynamic loads.
4.Multiple anti‑corrosion options for inland, marine and chemical‑polluted environments.
5.Uniform chemical composition and steady mechanical performance across whole coils.
6.Application Scope
1.Transport infrastructure: Highway bridges, box girders, high‑speed‑rail sleepers, continuous beams.
2.Civil buildings: Long‑span floors, basement slabs, prestressed beams, foundation piles.
3.Geotechnical works: Foundation pit anchors, slope stabilising bolts, anti‑floating anchors.
4.Mining engineering:1×19 strands for underground roadway support.
5.Power‑transmission field: Galvanized strands for overhead earth wires and tower stay cables.
7.Packing, Marking and Weight
‑Each coil net weight:1.8‑2.2 tonnes, strapped with steel bands and wrapped with waterproof film for sea and land container shipment.
‑Metal tag marked with size, tensile grade, heat number, production date and manufacturer.
‑Mill test certificate including chemical composition, tensile test and relaxation inspection reports supplied per batch.
8.Storage, Shipment and Site Inspection
‑Store 30 cm above ground with rain‑proof cover to prevent rust. Keep HDPE sheath intact for unbonded strands against grease leakage.
‑Avoid sharp dragging and surface scratching during lifting and delivery.
‑Inspection batch:60 tonnes per heat number. Test breaking load, elongation, dimension and relaxation. Double re‑test required for non‑conforming samples. Reject the whole batch if re‑test fails.
9.Chemical Composition (82B raw material)
Controlled trace impurities: P≤0.025%, S≤0.025% for good ductility and fatigue resistance.
