Channel Steel Product Description
1. Product Overview
Channel steel, also known as U-channel steel, is a hot-rolled long steel section with a U-shaped groove cross-section. It is one of the most widely used structural steel profiles in construction and engineering fields.
Classified into standard channel steel, non-standard channel steel and light-weight channel steel, it features excellent bending resistance and stable load-bearing capacity thanks to its unique groove structure. Easy for cutting, welding and installation, it is perfectly matched with I-beam, H-beam and other steel products for integrated steel structure projects.
2. Product Classification
By Standard
1. Standard Channel Steel
Comply with national standard GB/T 707-2008 with full size and wall thickness, stable mechanical performance. Ideal for large factories, municipal engineering and formal construction projects with strict acceptance standards.
2. Non-standard Channel Steel
Smaller size and thinner wall thickness, lower cost. Suitable for temporary supports, simple frames and non-load-bearing auxiliary structures.
3. Light-weight Channel Steel
Lighter weight with thinner web and narrower flange under the same height. Cost-effective for light-load steel structures and decorative supporting frames.
By Surface Treatment
1. Black Hot Rolled Channel Steel
Original hot rolled surface without anti-rust treatment, cost-effective, widely used for indoor engineering.
2. Hot-dip Galvanized Channel Steel
Superior anti-corrosion and anti-rust performance, resistant to rain, moisture and acid-base corrosion. Perfect for outdoor projects, chemical workshops and coastal corrosive environments.
By Production Process
Hot rolled channel steel is the mainstream product on the market. Integral hot rolling forming without welding seam, featuring high toughness, strong compression resistance and sufficient stock supply.
3. Common Material Grades
1. Q235B Carbon Steel
Most universal grade with good weldability and low price, meeting load-bearing demands of most conventional steel structures.
2. Q355B Low Alloy Steel
Higher tensile strength and deformation resistance than Q235B. Suitable for long-span factory buildings, heavy equipment bases, bridge projects and heavy-load structures.
