Performance Characteristics of Flange Cylinder Forgings

Integral Forging Forming Process

With a forging ratio ≥3.5, the raw material adopts carbon steel/alloy steel billets produced by electric furnace smelting and secondary refining, following national standard forging requirements. Using multi-pass upsetting + drawing + local closing composite process, the metal flow lines are continuously distributed along the axial direction of the cylinder, realizing full cross-section forging and uniform structure, improving internal defects such as core porosity, gas holes and inclusions. The metal density is ≥99.8%, which improves the pressure-bearing and fatigue resistance of the flange cylinder from the billet level.

Customized Heat Treatment Process

Heat treatment schemes are customized according to different materials and working conditions: normalizing/annealing for carbon steel, quenching and tempering (quenching + high-temperature tempering) for alloy steel. For large flange cylinders, zoned temperature control and slow cooling processes are adopted, with an internal stress relief rate ≥98%, which helps to improve the strength and toughness and dimensional stability of the flange cylinder, reducing the risk of deformation, cracking and coaxiality deviation during subsequent processing and use.

Precision Machining and Quality Control Testing

Equipped with special processing tooling and CNC equipment for flange cylinders, precision rough machining is carried out on the flange face, cylinder outer circle and end face. The flange flatness is ≤0.05mm, the cylinder roundness is ≤0.1mm/m, the coaxiality is ≤0.05mm/m, and the surface roughness Ra≤1.6μm. Machining and assembly allowances are reserved to adapt to subsequent turning, grinding and welding processes. Through ultrasonic testing (UT) and magnetic particle testing (MT), it meets the national standard Class II requirements, reducing the risk of internal defects and helping to reduce downstream processing difficulty and rejection rate.
