Performance Features of Cone Forgings

High forging ratio multi-directional forging forming

With a forging ratio of ≥4.0, the raw material adopts carbon steel billet produced by electric furnace smelting + external refining. In strict accordance with national standard forging requirements, we adopt the composite process of rotary upsetting + eccentric forging + taper finishing, combined with multi-directional forging and drawing. This process ensures full cross-section through forging and uniform structure of the forgings, eliminates defects such as core porosity and blowholes, achieves a metal compactness of ≥99.8%, and guarantees the isotropic mechanical properties of the cone.

Exclusive heat treatment for carbon steel cones

We customize the heat treatment process according to the characteristics of different carbon steel materials: normalizing treatment for 20# steel, normalizing + tempering treatment for 45# steel, and quenching and tempering treatment for Q345B steel. For large cones, we adopt zonal temperature control technology, with a temperature uniformity of ±5℃, and slow cooling after forging, achieving an internal stress elimination rate of ≥98%. This process effectively improves the strength, toughness and fatigue resistance of the cone, and avoids cracking, deformation and taper rebound during subsequent processing and service.

Precision taper finishing and pre-machining

We are equipped with special taper finishing and calibration tooling for carbon steel cones, to perform precision rough machining on the conical surface and end face of the cone. The taper error is ≤0.05°, the wall thickness uniformity error is ≤1mm, and the surface roughness Ra≤1.6μm. We reserve reasonable finishing and welding allowance, and strictly control the diameter tolerance of the large end / small end, which is fully compatible with subsequent equipment assembly and sealing surface machining, and reduces the processing difficulty for downstream customers.
