Introduction
Ytterbium-doped Lutetium Aluminum Garnet crystal, abbreviated as Yb:LuAG crystal (chemical formula: Yb:Lu₃Al₅O₁₂),
is a high-performance gain medium material suitable for ultrafast lasers.Yb:LuAG features broad absorption and
emission cross-sections as well as extremely high thermal conductivity. The ionic radii of Lu³⁺ and Yb³⁺ are highly
similar, enabling high-concentration doping with negligible degradation in thermal conductivity, making it
exceptionally suitable for high-power lasers.
In recent years, driven by the application demands for ultrashort, ultrafast, high-repetition-rate and high-energy
lasers, researchers have developed diversified crystal configurations beyond conventional rod-shaped structures,
including plate, strip and disk geometries. The market demand for larger-size Yb:LuAG laser crystal materials
continues to grow, especially as the core gain medium for high-power solid-state lasers.
