YCOB:Yttrium Calcium Oxyborate
Product Spotlights
Introduction:
The novel borate crystal YCOB (Yttrium Calcium Oxyborate, chemical formula: \(\boldsymbol{YCa_4O(BO_3)_3}\)) is an excellent nonlinear optical crystal material.Large-size (4-inch diameter) single crystals with high optical quality can be grown by the Czochralski method.
YCOB single crystal features a large nonlinear optical coefficient, broad transmittance spectrum, wide phase-matching range and high laser damage threshold. It can realize second and third harmonic generation of Nd:YAG laser.
In addition, YCOB is non-hygroscopic, possesses excellent mechanical properties and moderate hardness, and is easy to process. Large-aperture nonlinear optical elements can be fabricated from it. With superior comprehensive performance, YCOB is widely applied in Optical Parametric Chirped Pulse Amplification (OPCPA).
Since the ionic radius of Yttrium is close to that of most rare-earth ions, the Y sites in YCOB crystal can be easily substituted by rare-earth ions such as Nd, Tm, Er, etc. A variety of rare-earth doped self-frequency-doubling laser crystals can be grown to achieve self-frequency-doubling and self-sum-frequency laser output.
YCOB crystal also exhibits outstanding high-temperature piezoelectric properties. It maintains good piezoelectric performance and electromechanical coupling performance up to its melting point of 1500 °C, making it suitable for a variety of high-temperature sensor applications.
