Relationship between the IEC 60068 standard and the rain test
IEC 60068 is an environmental test standard issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), which is mainly used to assess the reliability of equipment under simulated climatic, mechanical and other environmental conditions. Among them:
IEC 60068-2-18: specifically specifies water test methods (e.g., drip, spray, immersion, etc.), covering selected test scenarios for IP protection classes (IPX1 to IPX9K).
Correlation with IEC 60529: Test details for IP protection classes (e.g. IPX3/IPX4) usually refer to IEC 60529, but IEC 60068-2-18 provides a wider range of test methods and conditions.
Design features of stainless steel rain test chamber
1. Material and structure
Stainless steel box: 304/316 stainless steel, corrosion-resistant, rust-proof, suitable for long-term exposure to water and humid environment.
Sealing design: prevent water leakage, protect external equipment and circuit.
Observation window: made of tempered glass or acrylic with built-in waterproof illumination for real-time monitoring of the testing process.
Sample Racks: Stainless steel racks with adjustable height and angle to accommodate products of different sizes (e.g., electronic equipment, automotive parts).
2. Spraying system
Multi-mode shower:
Pendulum shower (IPX3/IPX4): Pendulum angle adjustable (60°~360°), covering different directions of spraying needs.
Nozzle spray (IPX5/IPX6): equipped with high-pressure nozzles to support powerful water spray test.
Precise control:
Flow rate range: 10 L/min (IPX3/IPX4) to 100 L/min (IPX6).
Water pressure adjustment: 30 kPa (IPX5) to 100 kPa (IPX6).
3. Control system
Automated operation: set spray time, angle, flow rate, pressure and other parameters through PLC or touch screen.
Data logging: built-in sensors record test data (such as water temperature, flow, pressure), support export and print reports.
Safety protection: leakage protection, overpressure alarm, water shortage automatic shutdown and other functions.
4. Water circulation and filtration
Circulation system: built-in water tank and filtration device, recycling test water to reduce water waste.
Water quality requirements: It is recommended to use pure water or deionized water to avoid nozzle clogging or residual scale on the sample surface.

IPX4 (anti-splash water)
Pendulum angle 180° or 360°, omnidirectional splashing, time ≥ 10 minutes, flow rate 10 L/min.
IPX5/IPX6 (high pressure water spray)
Nozzle diameter 6.3mm (IPX5) or 12.5mm (IPX6), distance from the sample 2.5~3 meters, continuous water spray ≥ 3 minutes.
