Vertical Drip Rain Tester (IPX1/IPX2)

1. Test Standards

IPX1 (vertical drip)

◦ 

Requirement: Vertical drip (1±0.5 mm/min) for 10 minutes with no water penetration on the sample surface.

◦ 

Scenario: simulate natural rainfall or condensation environment (e.g. indoor equipment moisture test).

IPX2 (water dripping at an angle of 15°)

◦ 

Requirement: Vertical water drip (3±0.5 mm/min) when the sample is tilted at 15° for 10 minutes with no water penetration.

◦ 

Scenario: simulate the anti-drip capability of a device in a slightly tilted state (e.g., in-vehicle electronics).


Equipment core design

1. Drip system

Drip tray design:

◦ 

Adopt porous metal disk or needle nozzle with uniformly distributed holes (e.g., 0.4mm) to ensure water drops fall vertically and freely.

◦ 

Drip area covers the maximum projected area of the sample to avoid edge leakage.

Flow control:

◦ 

Drip rate is regulated by a precision flow meter and valve (IPX1: 1 mm/min, IPX2: 3 mm/min).

Water tank capacity to meet continuous testing requirements (e.g. 10L or more).

2. Sample stage and tilting mechanism

IPX1 mode: the sample stage remains horizontal and drips vertically.

IPX2 mode: Motorized or manual tilt stage (0°-15° adjustable) to simulate a tilted state.

3. Material and Structure

Box material: stainless steel or anti-corrosion coating to prevent long-term water corrosion.

Transparent observation window: tempered glass or acrylic, easy to monitor the test process in real time.

Drainage system: bottom deflector + water collection tank, rapid drainage and recycling.

4. Control system

Automatic operation: touch screen to set drip time, flow rate, tilt angle.

Alarm function: water shortage automatic shutdown, timeout reminder.


Rainwater Test Chamber (Extended Function)

For compatibility with higher waterproof rating (e.g. IPX3/IPX4), a multi-functional rainwater test box is available, integrating the following modules:

Example of operation process

1. 

IPX1 test:

Tilt the sample stage to 15° to initiate dripping for 10 minutes.

◦

Maintenance and Calibration
