The operating theory and structural design of hydrocyclones were put forward more than one hundred years ago. The cylindrical cyclone dirt‑remover works on this principle and serves as a practical implementation of hydrocyclone‑based solid‑liquid separation.As a water‑treatment unit that realizes solid‑liquid separation via centrifugal separation and gravity sedimentation, it mainly removes solid particles from groundwater, geothermal hot‑water and other water sources. It is widely applied for water‑source heat‑pump systems, chilled‑water and circulating cooling‑water systems of central air‑conditioners, seasonal hot‑cold circulating‑water systems and industrial process cooling‑water circuits.
The cyclone separator operates on centrifugal sedimentation and density difference. Water flows tangentially into the vessel under working pressure and generates intense swirling motion. Under the combined influence of centrifugal force, centripetal buoyancy and fluid drag force, clean water with lower density rises and exits from the upper overflow port, while heavy‑density sediment sinks and gets discharged through the bottom drain outlet.Within suitable working‑condition limits, higher inlet‑water pressure brings higher contaminant‑removal efficiency. Multiple separators can also be installed in parallel for enlarged processing capacity.
