1. Product Overview
Pressure vessel plate, fully named Special Steel Plate for Pressure Vessels, is a special plate for special equipment. This specification only covers carbon steel and low-alloy high-strength steel pressure vessel plates, excluding all stainless steel and heat-resistant alloy steel products. Manufactured in strict accordance with national and industrial special equipment standards for pressure vessels, this series of plates adopts optimized chemical composition and metallographic structure for pressure-bearing working conditions. It features high strength, excellent plasticity and toughness, superior weldability, fatigue resistance, lamellar tearing resistance and stable pressure-bearing performance. It is specially applied to manufacture industrial pressure-bearing tanks, boiler shells, reaction kettles, storage tanks and other pressurized special equipment, serving as a core basic material for chemical, electric power, boiler, oil and gas storage and transportation industries.

Application Scenarios: Normal temperature and low-pressure pressure equipment with neutral medium; industrial boiler drums, clean water storage tanks, atmospheric buffer tanks
3.2 Low-Alloy High-Strength Pressure Vessel Plates (High Pressure, Low Temperature, Heavy-Duty Thick Wall Working Conditions)
GB Grades: Q345R, Q370R, Q420R (Mainstream materials for chemical high-pressure equipment)
ASTM Grades: SA537 CL1/CL2, A516 Gr55/Gr70N (Normalized low-temperature dedicated grade)
Application Scenarios: Petrochemical high-pressure reaction kettles, liquefied gas storage tanks, power plant high-pressure boiler shells, thick-wall pressure-bearing equipment, outdoor low-temperature pressure vessels
3.3 Special Working Condition Dedicated Pressure Vessel Plates
Z-direction Lamellar Tearing Resistant Pressure Vessel Plates: Q345R-Z15/Z25/Z35. Suitable for thick-wall welding and high-stress welded joint pressure-bearing equipment to prevent steel plate lamellar cracking
Low-Temperature Impact Resistant Pressure Vessel Plates: Normalized SA516 Gr70N, Q345R(N), applicable to pressure-bearing operation under -20℃ ~ -46℃ low-temperature environment
4. Core Physical, Chemical and Mechanical Properties
4.1 Chemical Composition Characteristics
Strictly limited harmful impurities: S (Sulfur) ≤ 0.030%, P (Phosphorus) ≤ 0.035%; Reasonably controlled carbon content to reduce welding crack risk; Low-alloy grades are added with trace alloy elements such as manganese and silicon to improve matrix strength and low-temperature toughness; No chromium or nickel alloy components for stainless steel are contained.
4.2 Key Mechanical Parameters (Standard Values for Conventional Thickness Range)
Q245R: Yield Strength ≥ 245MPa, Tensile Strength: 400-520MPa, Elongation ≥ 21%, Room Temperature V-notch Impact Energy ≥ 34J
Q345R: Yield Strength ≥ 345MPa, Tensile Strength: 510-640MPa, Elongation ≥ 21%, 0℃ V-notch Impact Energy ≥ 34J
SA516 Gr70: Tensile Strength: 485-620MPa, Yield Strength ≥ 260MPa, suitable for full-condition pressure-bearing welding and processing at medium and low temperature
4.3 Process Characteristics
Excellent Weldability: Low carbon equivalent, compatible with conventional arc welding, submerged arc welding and gas shielded welding without complex preheating process; Good formability for bending, rolling and cutting, suitable for deep processing procedures of pressure vessels including tank rolling and head pressing.
5. Product Specification Parameters
Customizable full-size hot rolled / normalized pressure vessel plates; conventional stock specification range as below:
Thickness: 4mm—200mm; Customized extra-thick plate up to 300mm
Width: 1500mm—3900mm extra-wide width
Length: 6000mm—12000mm; Custom fixed length leveling and special-shaped blanking available
Delivery Form: Original hot rolled plate, precision leveled plate, customized special-shaped blanking parts, head dedicated plate
6. Delivery Status
Classified into three mainstream delivery status according to standards and service conditions:
Hot Rolled: Conventional delivery for thin and medium plates, applicable to low-pressure and normal-temperature ordinary pressure-bearing equipment
Normalized: Mandatory delivery status for thick plates, low-temperature and high-pressure equipment; with refined grain structure and optimal low-temperature toughness, the preferred status for high-risk special pressure equipment
Annealed / Tempered: For extra-thick and high-stress pressure vessel plates; eliminate rolling internal stress and prevent deformation and cracking during subsequent processing
7. Ultrasonic Testing Grade (Mandatory Inspection for Special Equipment)
Ultrasonic non-destructive testing is performed in accordance with GB/T 2970 standard, divided into Grade Ⅰ, Grade Ⅱ and Grade Ⅲ as required. Grade Ⅰ / Ⅱ testing reports are preferred for high-pressure and boiler equipment to detect internal defects including air holes, interlayers and cracks inside steel plates.
8. Main Application Fields
This series of carbon steel and low-alloy pressure vessel plates are not applicable to strong acid, strong alkali and highly corrosive medium working conditions. Main application scenarios:
Boiler Industry: Industrial boiler drums, boiler headers, heat exchange pressure-bearing shells
Petrochemical Industry: Low-pressure reaction kettles, oil and gas buffer tanks, atmospheric raw material storage tanks, heat exchange pressure vessels
Electric Power Industry: Power plant auxiliary equipment pressure-bearing tanks, atmospheric pressure-bearing equipment for desulfurization and denitrification systems
Storage and Transportation Industry: Normal temperature liquid medium storage tanks, compressed air gas storage tanks, outdoor low-pressure storage and transportation tanks
Special Equipment Manufacturers: Pressure vessel heads, cylinders, flange base pressure-bearing structural components
9. Deep Processing Services
Full-process deep processing available: Flame cutting, plasma precision cutting, laser blanking, cylinder rolling, head pressing, bending, beveling, plate shot blasting; Custom finished semi-finished pressure vessel components per drawings.
10. Quality Inspection and Warranty Terms
Original factory material certificate, melting report, mechanical property test report and non-destructive testing report are provided with goods for full traceability;
Third-party authoritative institutional re-inspection on chemical composition, mechanical properties and ultrasonic testing is supported;
Compliant with national access standards for special equipment materials, acceptable for inspection by local special equipment supervision and inspection institutions;
No surface defects such as air bubbles, scabs, delamination and cracks; Dimensional tolerance meets national first-class tolerance standard.
11. Storage and Handling Precautions
1. Store in dry and ventilated environment; Avoid outdoor exposure and rain erosion. Carbon steel pressure vessel plates have no natural anti-corrosion performance, and anti-corrosion coating or spraying treatment is required after processing;
2. Protect plates during thick plate hoisting to avoid surface collision damage affecting pressure-bearing performance;
3. Store steel plates of different grades and testing grades separately; Mixed use is strictly prohibited.
