Product Introduction Flotation cell for zinc lead flotation plant

A flotation cell for a zinc lead flotation plant is a high-performance industrial separation machine designed to sequentially or simultaneously extract lead and zinc minerals from complex poly-metallic ores. Because lead (usually as galena) and zinc (usually as sphalerite) frequently coexist in the same ore bodies, these flotation cells are engineered to operate within sophisticated, multi-stage differential circuits that cleanly separate the two metals into distinct, high-purity concentrates.

Application Flotation cell for zinc lead flotation plant

This equipment is essential for mining operations processing complex lead-zinc sulfide ores where precise chemical suppression and activation are required. The system is suitable for the following typical scenarios: Differential Lead-Zinc Flotation: The primary application where lead minerals are floated first while suppressing zinc, followed by a separate downstream circuit where the zinc is activated and floated away from the remaining iron sulfides and gangue rock. Bulk Flotation and Separation: Used for specific ore types where a combined lead-zinc bulk concentrate is produced first to reduce initial tailings volume, and then subsequently separated into individual lead and zinc products. Silver-Bearing Lead-Zinc Ores: Deployed in circuits where valuable silver is associated with galena, ensuring the flotation cell dynamics maximize silver recovery into the lead concentrate to boost smelter payables.

Working Principle Flotation cell for zinc lead flotation plant

The separation process relies on a strict two-stage chemical and mechanical sequence within the flotation bank to prevent cross-contamination between the metals. Lead Flotation Stage: The ground ore slurry enters the first bank of flotation cells. Zinc depressants (such as zinc sulfate) are added to keep the sphalerite hydrophilic, while specific lead collectors allow the galena to become hydrophobic. The cell's impeller generates fine bubbles that lift the lead minerals into a high-grade lead froth concentrate, leaving the zinc in the slurry. Zinc Activation Stage: The tailing slurry from the lead circuit, which contains all the zinc, is transferred to a conditioning tank where copper sulfate is introduced as an activator to restore the floatability of the zinc minerals. Zinc-specific collectors are then added. Zinc Flotation Stage: The activated slurry enters the second bank of flotation cells. The intense air-dispersion and agitation mechanism attaches the zinc particles to the rising bubbles, producing a clean zinc froth concentrate while the iron sulfides (pyrite) and silicate gangue sink to the bottom as final plant tailings.

Advantages Flotation cell for zinc lead flotation plant

High Selectivity and Concentrate Purity: The advanced hydrodynamic design of the cells reduces mechanical entrainment, ensuring minimal lead contamination in the zinc concentrate and vice versa, which maximizes smelter returns. Flexible Reagent and Air Dosing: Features independent air flow controls and precise pulp level management for each cell bank, allowing operators to match the unique kinetics required for both fast-floating galena and slower-floating activated sphalerite. Heavy-Duty Durability: Equipped with highly wear-resistant polyurethane or specialized rubber rotors and stators, the cells withstand the highly abrasive nature of dense lead-zinc slurries, significantly extending maintenance intervals and reducing plant downtime.
