Log Washer Beneficiation Line
log washer beneficiation line
1. Product Introduction
The Log Washer Beneficiation Line is an advanced, multi-stage mineral processing circuit designed specifically for the pre-concentration and washing of heavily contaminated, clay-bound, and cemented ores. In mineral beneficiation, sticky plastic clays and mud balls can wrap around valuable minerals, blind screen decks, and clog downstream crushing or milling equipment, causing massive losses in recovery rates. This integrated beneficiation line utilizes our heavy-duty dual-shaft log washer as the core liberation unit. Combined with feeding, scalping, fine gravity separation, and tailings dewatering systems, it completely breaks down the clay matrix, liberates valuable minerals, and upgrades raw ore grades before downstream metallurgical processes.
2. Applications
This beneficiation circuit is widely deployed in large-scale mining operations globally for the pre-treatment of various mineral deposits:
Ferrous Metal Mining: Beneficiation of low-grade iron ore (hematite, magnetite, limonite) and manganese ore bound by dense clay blocks.
Non-Ferrous Metal Mining: Cleaning and grade-upgrading of bauxite (aluminum ore), copper, nickel, and zinc ores.
Precious Metal Extraction: Washing alluvial gold gravels and diamond-bearing conglomerates to liberate minerals from cemented clay before sluicing or gravity concentration.
Industrial Minerals: Processing limestone, silica sand, barite, and phosphate rock to strip away deleterious clay contaminants.
3. Working Principle
The log washer beneficiation line functions as a continuous, automated circuit, utilizing mechanical attrition and counter-current washing to achieve efficient mineral liberation:
Primary Scalping & Feed Regulation: Crude run-of-mine ore is fed into a heavy-duty hopper. A vibrating grizzly feeder separates oversized waste rocks, regulating a steady volumetric flow into the washing circuit.
Core Mechanical Liberation: The clay-bound ore enters the lower end of the inclined dual-shaft log washer. High-torque, counter-rotating steel shafts fitted with high-wear alloy paddles violently chop, cut, and tumble the ore. This creates severe material-on-material attrition, forcing the hard mineral rocks to grind against each other, completely scrubbing away and dissolving the tough clay jackets wrapped around the minerals.
Counter-Current Separation: High-pressure water spray bars rinse the material. The pitch of the blades continuously moves the heavy, scrubbed, high-grade mineral concentrates up the incline to discharge at the top. Concurrently, the dissolved mud and lightweight gangue form an unstable slurry, flowing downward to exit via the low-end overflow weir.
Fine Mineral Recovery & Slurry Management: The clean coarse ore is sent to downstream processing. The muddy overflow slurry is directed through hydrocyclones and spiral classifiers to capture sub-mesh fine minerals that would otherwise be lost to waste, maximizing total mineral recovery. The remaining clay sludge is sent to a thickener tank where water is clarified and recycled back into the system.
4. Key Advantages of the Beneficiation Line
Maximum Mineral Liberation & Grade Upgrading: By mechanically scrubbing away stubborn clay coverings, the line prevents valuable minerals from being accidentally rejected as tailings, resulting in a dramatic increase in overall concentrate grade and recovery rates.
Downstream Equipment Protection: Eliminating sticky plastic clays prior to secondary crushing and milling prevents downstream equipment clogging, reduces liner wear-and-tear, and drastically cuts plant maintenance downtime.
Ultra-Heavy-Duty, Wear-Resistant Engineering: The core log washer features reinforced, thick-walled steel tubs, solid-forged steel shafts, and replaceable bolt-on paddles cast from premium manganese or high-chromium alloy steel, designed specifically to handle high-density ores and severe impact loads.
Advanced Fine Mineral Scavenging: Unlike standard aggregate washing plants, our beneficiation line integrates downstream fine-mineral recovery units (such as hydrocyclones and spirals) to ensure that microscopic or fine-grained particles are efficiently recaptured from the overflow slurry.
Closed-Loop Automation & Water Conservation: Equipped with centralized PLC automation, operators can monitor motor load variations and water pressures in real-time. Paired with advanced water thickeners and clarifiers, the line operates on a closed-loop system that recycles up to 90% of process water, making it highly eco-friendly and economically viable in arid mining regions.
