C276 Inroduction
Super alloys or high performance alloys are available in a variety of shapes and contain elements in different combinations to obtain a specific result. These alloys are of three types that include iron-based, cobalt-based and nickel-based alloys. The nickel-based and cobalt-based super alloys are available as cast or wrought based alloys according to composition and application.Super alloys have good oxidation and creep resistance and can be strengthened by precipitation hardening, solid-solution hardening and work hardening methods. They can also function under high mechanical stress and high temperatures and also in places that require high surface stability.
HASTELLOY(r) C276 is a wrought corrosion-resistant alloy that resists the development of grain boundary precipitates that degrade corrosion resistance.

Butt-welded branch pipe supports are a type of branch pipe support that has been widely used abroad in recent years. They are used as reinforcing pipe fittings for branch pipe connections, replacing traditional branch pipe connection methods such as reducing tees, reinforcing plates, and reinforced pipe sections. They have outstanding advantages such as safety and reliability, reduced cost, simple construction, improved medium flow path, standardized series, and convenient design and selection. They are increasingly used, especially in high-pressure, high-temperature, large-diameter, and thick-walled pipelines, replacing traditional branch pipe connection methods.

1. Raw Material Incoming Inspection and Acceptance
This is the starting point of the entire production process. A comprehensive inspection of incoming raw materials such as round steel, steel plates, or steel ingots is required. This includes verifying material certificates, chemical composition analysis reports, and mechanical property test reports. Simultaneously, a 100% inspection of the material's appearance, dimensions, and surface defects is conducted to ensure that the raw materials meet the corresponding standards (such as GB/T 19326, MSS SP-97) and order technical requirements, preventing unqualified materials from entering the production process.
2. Blanking and Pre-treatment
Based on the specifications and dimensions of the branch pipe, qualified raw materials are blanked using a saw or flame cutting equipment to obtain billets that match the weight and volume of the finished product. Forging and machining allowances must be reserved during blanking to avoid dimensional inadequacies in subsequent processes. After blanking, the billet surface is cleaned to remove oxide scale, oil stains, and burrs. The furnace number, material, and specifications are marked to ensure traceability during production.
3. Heating and Forging
The pre-treated billet is fed into a heating furnace and heated to the specified temperature according to the forging process curve of the corresponding material (e.g., 1100-1200℃ for carbon steel, and the temperature range adjusted according to the grade for stainless steel), ensuring uniform billet temperature and good plasticity. Subsequently, it is die-forged using die-forging equipment (such as a press or forging press) to forge the billet into a blank that closely resembles the contour of the branch pipe seat. This step is crucial for ensuring the dense internal structure, qualified mechanical properties, and pressure-bearing capacity of the branch pipe seat under high-pressure conditions.4. Heat TreatmentBased on the material and performance requirements, the forged blank undergoes heat treatment. Carbon steel and alloy steel typically undergo normalizing or annealing processes to eliminate internal stress generated during forging, refine grains, and improve the material's toughness and stability. Stainless steel often undergoes solution treatment to improve corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. The heat treatment process requires strict control of temperature, holding time, and cooling rate to avoid uneven hardness, deformation, or cracking.
5. Non-destructive Testing (NDT)
After heat treatment, the blanks must undergo non-destructive testing. Common methods include magnetic particle testing (MT), penetrant testing (PT), and ultrasonic testing (UT). Magnetic particle/penetrant testing is used to check for surface and near-surface defects such as cracks and porosity, while ultrasonic testing is used to detect internal defects such as slag inclusions and looseness. This ensures that the blanks are free of defects that affect performance. Unqualified blanks must be reworked or scrapped.6. Machining and FormingThe qualified blanks are sent to lathes, CNC machining centers, or other equipment for precision machining according to the drawings. Key dimensions such as the main pipe mating surface, branch pipe weld bevel, inner diameter, and outer diameter are machined sequentially. Tolerances, surface roughness, and geometrical accuracy of each part are strictly controlled, especially the curvature of the main pipe mating surface and the angle of the branch pipe bevel, to ensure proper fit and weld quality when welded to the pipeline.
7. Surface Treatment and Cleaning
After machining, surface treatment is performed according to the material and operating environment. Carbon steel and alloy steel pipe fittings are typically shot blasted or sandblasted to remove surface oxide scale and oil, while improving surface adhesion. Stainless steel pipe fittings undergo pickling and passivation treatment to remove the oxide layer generated during processing, forming a dense passivation film and enhancing corrosion resistance. After treatment, the pipe fittings are thoroughly cleaned to remove residual iron filings, oil, and dust.
8. Final Inspection and MarkingA comprehensive final inspection is conducted on the finished branch pipe fittings, including dimensional verification, visual inspection, non-destructive testing re-examination, and material spectral re-examination, ensuring that all indicators meet standards and order requirements. After passing inspection, the pipe fitting surface is marked according to standards, indicating information such as material, specifications, furnace number, production batch number, manufacturing standard, and pressure rating. A product quality certificate is also issued to ensure product traceability.
9. Packaging and Shipping
The inspected and qualified pipe supports will be protectively packaged. Stainless steel pipe fittings must be packaged separately and protected against impacts and contamination. Carbon steel pipe fittings can be painted for rust prevention as needed. Then, they will be packed into wooden crates or pallets, with moisture-proof and shock-proof protection to ensure the products are not damaged during transportation, and finally shipped to the customer's site.
