C276 Introduction
Super alloys or high performance alloys are available in a variety of shapes and contain elements in different combinations to obtain a specific result. These alloys are of three types that include iron-based, cobalt-based and nickel-based alloys. The ickel-based and cobalt-based super alloys are available as cast or wrought based alloys according to composition and application.
Super alloys have good oxidation and creep resistance and can be strengthened by precipitation hardening, solid-solution hardening and work hardening methods. They can also function under high mechanical stress and high temperatures and also in places that require high surface stability. HASTELLOY(r) C276 is a wrought corrosion-resistant alloy that resists the development of grain boundary precipitates that degrade corrosion resistance.

C276 Forging Technology Socket Welding Coupling Introduction
The forged double-ended socket pipe fitting is a core connection component in industrial pipeline systems. It is a type of forged pipe fitting and is mainly used to connect pipes of the same diameter or different diameters, enabling the direct or variable-diameter transmission of fluids. It is produced through high-temperature forging, cold processing shaping, and then machined into a socket and plug structure. It is fixed to the pipes by socket welding (SW) and has excellent sealing performance and reliability.
According to the diameter relationship, they can be classified as equal-diameter type (connecting pipes of the same diameter) and unequal-diameter type (connecting pipes of different diameters). The unequal-diameter type is further divided into concentric type (where the center lines of the pipes are aligned) and eccentric type (where the center lines are offset to avoid the accumulation of air bags when the horizontal pipe changes diameter).
The core advantages are reflected in three aspects: Firstly, high strength and toughness. The forging process makes the internal structure of the material dense, and its strength and toughness far exceed those of cast pipe fittings, capable of withstanding high-pressure conditions; Secondly, wide adaptability to various working conditions. Carbon steel (such as 20#, A105) has a temperature range of -200℃ to +650℃, stainless steel (304L, 316L) is corrosion-resistant, and special alloys (Incoloy800H, etc.) can cope with strong corrosion and ultra-high temperature environments; Thirdly, high standardization. It complies with GB/T14383-2008 (Chinese standard), ANSI/ASME B16.11 (American standard), with specifications ranging from DN15 to DN250 (1/2" to 10"), pressure ratings of 150LB to 3000LB, suitable for most industrial scenarios.
It is widely applied in fields such as petrochemicals, metallurgy, ships, food and pharmaceutical machinery, and power. It is a key component for achieving efficient and stable connections in pipeline systems.

1.Material Preparation
Use rolled round steel or steel ingot profiles as the raw material. According to the specifications of the target pipe fittings (such as DN15-DN100) and the material (carbon steel A105/20#, stainless steel 304/316L, etc.), precisely cut the length of the raw material to ensure the accuracy basis for subsequent forging and machining processes.
2. Heating treatment
Place the raw material in the heating furnace and set the heating temperature according to the material type: The carbon steel billet is heated to a temperature range of 1150℃ - 1250℃ (the austenitization temperature range); The stainless steel billet is heated to 1050℃ - 1150℃ to avoid excessive heating which could cause coarse grains. After heating, the surface of the billet shows a uniform oxide color, which is convenient for subsequent forging operations.
3. Die forging
The heated billet is placed in a dedicated die forging equipment (such as a hydraulic press or a free forging press). Through the forging action of the upper and lower molds, the metal undergoes plastic deformation at high temperatures, initially forming the outline shape of the double-ended pipe fitting. The technical patent mentions that the dedicated die forging equipment can optimize the mold structure to ensure that the metal flows uniformly and fills the mold cavity, effectively eliminating internal segregation and porosity in the steel ingot, and enhancing the overall density and strength of the pipe fitting.
4. Machining and finishing
The forged blanks need to undergo precision machining using equipment such as lathes and milling machines: End fitting processing: Precisely machine the inner diameters, lengths and chamfers of the end fittings to ensure the fitting accuracy with the steel pipe (the tolerance is usually controlled within ±0.05mm); Surface treatment: Machine the outer circle to ensure coaxiality and surface roughness (Ra ≤ 3.2μm); Dimension calibration: Check the total length of the pipe clamp, the spacing of the fitting ports, etc., to ensure compliance with standards such as GB/T14383 and ASME B16.11.
5. Heat treatment strengthening
Carry out subsequent heat treatment based on the material: Carbon steel pipe clamps: undergo normalizing or quenching + tempering treatment to enhance hardness and impact resistance; Stainless steel pipe clamps: undergo solution treatment to eliminate forging stresses and restore the material's corrosion resistance. After heat treatment, aging stabilization is required to ensure long-term dimensional stability.
6. Surface Treatment and InspectionSurface Treatment:
Perform acid washing, passivation (for stainless steel), galvanization (for carbon steel corrosion prevention), etc. as per requirements;
Quality Inspection: Conduct internal defect detection using ultrasonic testing, perform pressure resistance tests (such as burst tests for pressure grades of Class 3000/6000/9000), and inspect dimensions, threads (threaded pipe clamps), or flange fitting accuracy. Only after passing these checks can the products be stored.
