The Woodward 5466-348 is primarily an RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) input module. Its core function is to acquire high-precision temperature data from industrial environments.
**Multi-channel Data Acquisition:** Typically provides 8 RTD input channels, allowing simultaneous monitoring of temperatures at multiple key points.
**High Compatibility:** Supports various standard resistance signals (such as 100-ohm or 200-ohm platinum resistance thermometers Pt100/Pt200), compensating for wire resistance generated during long-distance transmission.
**Real-time Processing and Conversion:** Internally, the module converts the acquired analog resistance signals into digital signals and transmits them to the main controller in real-time via the system bus.
**Diagnostics and Self-monitoring:** Features fault detection capabilities, identifying abnormal states such as open circuits, short circuits, or inputs exceeding range, ensuring system safety.

1. Gas Turbine and Steam Turbine Control
This is the most classic application scenario. It is used to monitor turbine bearing temperature, exhaust gas temperature (EGT), and lubricating oil temperature. These data are key indicators for preventing turbine blade damage and ensuring safe tripping of the unit.
2. Generator Protection
It monitors the temperature of the generator stator windings and bearings. If the temperature is too high, the controller will trigger an alarm or reduce the load to prevent generator burnout.
