I.Product Overview
The snow cover formed by heavy snowfall can severely disrupt people's transportation and travel. Therefore, real-time monitoring of snow depth during snowfall is particularly critical. The PC-XS2 Automatic Snow Depth Monitoring Station is a professional device independently developed and manufactured by our company, drawing on decades of experience in meteorological and environmental instrument R&D. It is designed for real-time monitoring of snow-related data.
Adopting laser-based snow identification and measurement technology, this device overcomes the limitations of ultrasonic, electromagnetic wave, and weighing-based methods that fail to accurately identify snow, thus ensuring high measurement precision.
The product can function as a standalone automatic snow depth monitoring and alarm system, or be integrated into a network for diversified monitoring. Collected data from each monitoring point is transmitted to the control center via GPRS wireless network for centralized processing.
It is widely used in various fields, including meteorological observatories, ports and terminals, road traffic, aviation, construction, agriculture, and hydrology and water conservancy.
II.Product Principle
It adopts the phase-shift laser ranging principle to measure snow depth. Phase-shift laser ranging modulates the amplitude of laser beams at radio-wave frequencies, measures the phase delay generated by the modulated light traveling round-trip along the measurement path once, and then converts the phase delay into the corresponding distance based on the wavelength of the modulated light. By monitoring the distance at the installation location, it can accurately measure snow thickness with millimeter-level precision within seconds, and the measuring range can reach up to 5 meters.
This product features high measurement accuracy, strong anti-interference capability, ruggedness and durability, dust resistance, low power consumption, easy installation and maintenance-free operation. It is capable of long-term continuous measurement of snow depth and snowfall amount per time period.

IV.Product Features
The product adopts the laser ranging principle, capable of accurately measuring snow thickness up to 5 meters within seconds.
2. The snow thickness alarm threshold can be set arbitrarily. When the snow thickness exceeds the preset value, an automatic alarm will be triggered, facilitating timely acquisition of snowfall information.
3. The laser beam emitted by the sensor is safe and reliable, posing no harm to on-site operators. Moreover, the laser beam is not affected by temperature changes, and its measurement accuracy remains unaffected by the surrounding environment.
4. Both AC and DC power supply modes are available for selection.
5. The mounting bracket of the laser snow depth sensor supports multi-angle adjustment, which can meet the snow depth monitoring requirements of different distances at various on-site locations.
6. Designed in accordance with industrial control standards, the product features an all-metal structure and high protection grade, making it suitable for operation in harsh environments.
7. An integrated automatic temperature control device ensures that the sensor can accurately measure snow depth data even under extremely cold conditions.
8. Multiple output modes including RS485, RS232 and GPRS are optional, facilitating secondary integration and access to various data acquisition terminals.
9. The automatic snow depth monitoring system software can conduct real-time monitoring of snow depth data, perform automatic analysis on the monitored data, generate trend curves, and produce snowfall reports in Excel format for easy calling by other systems.
10. The data collector of the system adopts a high-performance microprocessor as the main control CPU and is equipped with a large-capacity data storage unit, which can continuously store more than 80,000 data points. Unlimited data storage can be achieved by connecting an external USB flash drive.
11. The system structure is designed in compliance with industrial control standards, adapting to harsh working environments. The observation bracket is made of stainless steel, with a customizable height according to user requirements, and the overall floor area is less than 1.5 square meters.
12. When paired with a GPRS module, the system can upload data to the Sunshine Smart Cloud Platform, enabling real-time online monitoring of data via remote PC terminals, mobile phone APPs or WeChat Mini Programs. For networked monitoring with multiple sets of devices, station management can also be carried out through the GIS map function of the cloud platform.
