Signal acquisition
The analog signals on site, such as the voltage signal output by the temperature sensor and the 4-20mA current signal output by the pressure transmitter, etc., are connected to the Triconex 3401 module through the terminal block. The module is equipped with multiple independent signal acquisition channels, capable of simultaneously collecting multiple analog signals. The number of channels depends on the specific model.
Signal processing
Signal conditioning: The analog signal to be connected will first pass through the signal conditioning circuit, which can perform operations such as filtering, amplifying, and isolating the signal. Filtering can remove the high-frequency noise interference in the signal and make the signal purer. Amplification can amplify weak signals to an appropriate level, facilitating subsequent processing. Isolation can prevent electrical interference from on-site signals to the internal circuits of the module, thereby enhancing the reliability and safety of the system.
Analog-to-digital Conversion (ADC) : After conditioning, the analog signal is sent to the analog-to-digital converter to be converted into a digital signal. The Triconex 3401 module usually adopts high-precision ADC chips to ensure that the converted digital signal has high resolution and accuracy. For example, it may have a resolution of 16 bits or higher, which can more accurately reflect the changes of the on-site analog signal.
Signal voting and output
Triple redundancy processing: The Triconex 3401 module is designed based on the Triple Module Redundancy (TMR) architecture. The converted digital signals will be processed and stored simultaneously in three independent channels. These three channels work in parallel and perform independent operations and judgments on the same input signal.
Three-to-two voting mechanism: During each scanning cycle, the processing results of the three channels will be compared and voted on. If the results of at least two of the channels are consistent, the result will be recognized as a valid output and sent to the main processor module of the control system. This mechanism can effectively prevent incorrect data output caused by the failure of a single channel (such as hardware damage, software errors, etc.), and improve the fault tolerance and reliability of the system.
Communication interaction
Communication with the main processor: The module interacts with the main processor module of the Triconex control system through the internal communication bus, transmitting the valid digital signal after voting to the main processor for logical operations, execution of control strategies and other operations. Meanwhile, the module can also receive configuration information and instructions sent by the main processor, such as channel parameter Settings, calibration commands, etc.
Communication protocol support: The Triconex 3401 module supports multiple industrial communication protocols, such as Modbus, Profibus, etc., in order to communicate with other devices or systems. Through these protocols, the module can transmit the collected analog data to the upper computer monitoring system, other controllers, etc., to achieve data sharing and remote monitoring.
Fault diagnosis and self-monitoring
Internal fault detection: The module is equipped with a complete self-diagnostic function and can monitor its own working status in real time, including the working status of the ADC chip, power supply voltage, communication link, etc. Once an internal fault is detected, the module will immediately trigger an alarm and feed back the fault information to the main processor.
Channel fault detection: It can perform fault detection on each analog input channel. If abnormal conditions such as open circuit, short circuit, or over-range of the input signal are detected, the fault of that channel will be marked in a timely manner, and corresponding handling measures will be taken when necessary, such as setting the output of that channel to a safety value or a fault status indicator.
