CE certification is a mandatory certification mark for products exported to the EU. For construction products, affixing the "CE" mark not only proves that the product complies with the safety, environmental protection, hygiene and consumer protection requirements stipulated in the Construction Products Directive (CPR 305/2011/EU) and its related standards (EN 13859-1), but also helps the product reasonably avoid trade technical barriers, sell freely in the European market and open up other international markets.

Then in the application for CE certification, the must-do test item is fire protection, and the test standard is to classify the level according to EN13501-1.

Ÿ EN 13501-1:Fire classification of construction products and building elements-Part1: Classification using data from reaction to fire tests

EN13501-1 is the EU fire classification standard for building products and building components. Its purpose is to scientifically and accurately evaluate and classify the fire resistance of various building materials to ensure the safety of buildings in the event of a fire. Product range classification:

Ÿ Non-ground materials: such as plastics, wood boards, walls and other building products.

Ÿ Ground materials: including bamboo floors, wooden floors, plastic floors, carpets, rubber floors, etc.

Ÿ Linear pipe insulation products: such as rubber-plastic insulation pipes, PVC pipes and other pipe products.

Depending on the building product, the test method is different, and the level classification is also different. The specific level classification is:

ŸBuilding flat sample: A1, A2, B, C, D, E, F;

ŸFor floor materials: A1fl, A2fl, B fl, C fl, D fl, E fl, F fl;

ŸLinear pipe insulation products: A1l, A2l, B l, C l, D l, E l, F l;

F level is the lowest and is generally not recommended for use in buildings.

The significance of doing EN 13501-1 for building materials:

For building product manufacturers, passing the EN13501-1 fire test and obtaining CE certification can prove that their products meet the EU fire safety standards, improve the market competitiveness of products, and help the sales and promotion of products in the EU market. For consumers and building users, using building materials that meet this standard can greatly improve the fire safety of buildings and reduce the risks and hazards of fires.
