Basic overview of plate-frame filter press:
As a solid-liquid separation equipment, filter press has a long history in industrial production.It has a good separation effect and a wide range of adaptability, especially suitable for the separation of viscous materials, has a unique advantage.
Filter press is divided into plate and box filter press and chamber filter press.The filter press is an intermittent filter device used for solid-liquid separation of various suspensions.It relies on a pressing device to press the filter plate and then pumps the suspension into the filter chamber. The cloth is used to separate the solid particles from the liquid particles.
Plate - frame filter press is a very mature dehydration equipment.It was widely used in early sludge dewatering projects in Europe and the United States.Plate - frame filter press is simple in structure, easy to operate and stable.It is flexible, the unit filtration area covers a small area, the filtration driving force is large, the obtained filter cake moisture content is low, the material adaptability is strong, suitable for all kinds of sludge.
Work flow of plate and frame filter press:
1) pressurized filter plate: press the clamping cylinder (or other pressing mechanism) to move the moving plate to the fixed plate and press the filter plate between the two.Adjacent filter plates form a closed filter chamber.
2) pressure filtration process: feed pump (diaphragm pump) delivers slurry to the filtration chamber.After filling, start pressure filtration, solid - liquid separation by pressure pump or compressed air pressure.
3) release the filter plate: use the pull-out device to open the filter plate and set the sequence in the setting mode.
4) discharge of filter plate: after the filter device is pulled open by the traction device, the filter cake is separated by dead weight and transported by the lower conveyor.
After completing the above four steps, a working cycle of the filter press is completed.
Characteristics of plate and frame filter press:
The plate and frame filter press is suitable for suspensions with large or nearly incompressible filter residue.Suitable suspensions usually have a solid concentration of less than 10% and are usually 0.3 to 1.6MPa, especially at operating pressures up to 3MPa or higher.Filter areas can be increased or decreased depending on the number of plate frames used.The frame is usually square.The inner length of the filter frame is 200-2000 mm, the thickness of the frame is 16-80 mm, and the filter area is 1-1200 square meters.Through manual screws, electric screws and hydraulic press plates and frames.The panels and frames are made of wood, cast iron, cast steel, stainless steel, polypropylene and rubber.
The plate - frame filter press is very heavy and bulky.This type of sludge dehydrator adopts the intermittent operation mode, the solid output is 50kg/h, the production capacity is small, the dehydration rate is high.The water content of mud cake can reach 70%-85%.In addition, the equipment needs special protective devices, the degree of automation is poor;Many moving parts, unstable;Equipment investment is slightly lower;Maintenance is difficult;The operation is more complex and must be managed by someone.;Short life.

Plate-frame filter press is mainly composed of fixed plate, filter frame, filter plate, press plate and pressure device.The materials used to make the plates and frames are metal, wood, engineering plastics and rubber, etc., and the surface grooves of various types of filter plates are used as drainage channels, and the filter frames are hollow.Multiple filter plates and frames are arranged alternately.The filter medium (e.g. press cloth) is sandwiched between the plate and the frame.The filter frame and filter plate pass through two ears, which are placed horizontally on two equal beams, and one end is a retaining plate.During operation, the pressure device presses or pulls the pressure plate at one end.The filter press feeds and discharges filtrate through the corners of the plate and frame and through the channels or plates of the lugs extending from both sides of the frame.There are two types of filtrate discharge: clear current and undercurrent.During the filtration process, the filter cake is collected in the frame.The working pressure of general plate frame filter press is 0.3~ 0.5mpa, and that of filter press is 1~2MPa.
