1. Product Overview
Hot Rolled Coil (HRC) is produced from steel slabs. After high-temperature heating in reheating furnace, the slabs go through continuous rough rolling and finish rolling, laminar cooling and coiling to form coil products. Without cold rolling at room temperature, finished coils retain hot rolled black oxide scale. It features low cost, fast delivery, full thickness range and flexible deep processing performance. As one of the most widely used steel raw materials, it serves machinery manufacturing, steel structure, construction machinery, pipe production and metal stamping industries.
Hot Rolling Forming Principle
Slabs are heated to 1100–1250℃ in walking beam furnace to eliminate casting defects inside metal. Roughing mill repeatedly reduces slab thickness, then finishing mill rolls slabs to target thickness. Laminar cooling water uniformly controls cooling speed to refine grain and improve comprehensive mechanical properties. Finally, coiler winds steel into compact coils for convenient storage, transportation, slitting and leveling.

2.1 Ordinary Carbon Hot Rolled Coil (General Structure & Stamping)
Q195, Q235A/Q235B, Q255B
Q235B: Universal mainstream grade with balanced plasticity, welding and bending performance for most ordinary structural parts.
2.2 High Strength Low Alloy Hot Rolled Coil (Heavy Load Components)
Q355B, Q355C, Q355D, Q355EGrades C/D/E deliver progressively improved low-temperature impact toughness, suitable for outdoor low-temperature equipment, construction machinery, vehicle girders and load-bearing steel structures.
2.3 Pipeline Special Hot Rolled Coil
L245, L290, L360, L415, X42/X52/X60/X70, used as raw material for SAW and LSAW steel pipes.
2.4 Vessel & Boiler Special Hot Rolled Coil
Q245R, Q355R, base material for pressure vessels, boiler barrels and storage tanks.
2.5 Wear-resistant Hot Rolled Coil
NM400, NM450, NM500, applied in mining equipment, dump trucks and wear-resistant liners.

6. Mandatory Batch Inspection Standards (Sampling Test Per Batch)
6.1 Physical & Mechanical Tests
Tensile test: Yield strength, tensile strength, elongation after fracture to distinguish strength grades
Charpy impact test: Low-temperature impact test for Q355C/D/E for cold environment service
Bend test: No cracks after 180° cold bend, suitable for bending and stamping
Metallographic examination: Uniform grain without severe segregation or inclusions
Spectrochemical analysis: Strict control over harmful impurities C, Si, Mn, S, P
6.2 Appearance & Dimensional Inspection
Neat coil shape without severe telescoping, loose coil or collapse; surface free of cracks, scabs, slivers, pits and scratches; thickness, width and coil weight checked and recorded coil by coil.
6.3 Non-Destructive Sampling Test
Ultrasonic lamination inspection for internal delamination and shrinkage cavity defects; DWTT drop weight tear test added for pipeline coils.
