GE IC693CMM301 is a dedicated Genius Communications Module (GCM) for GE Fanuc Series 90-30 PLC. It acts as a communication gateway between the PLC rack and Genius distributed remote I/O bus, and supports peer-to-peer networking of multiple 90-30 PLCs via Genius bus to realize global data exchange.This module transmits remote field I/O data through Genius token-passing bus, covering measuring points over a large factory area without additional repeaters. It serves as a core communication spare part for projects including old 90-30 system expansion, remote I/O renovation and multi-PLC data intercommunication.

3. Main Features

4. Working Principle


  1. Power-on Self-test & Initialization: After the module is inserted into the rack and powered on, it completes hardware self-test and bus parameter reading, the OK light stays on, waiting for Genius bus addressing.

  2. Genius Bus Node Polling: As the bus master gateway, the module polls all 31 remote I/O nodes on the bus according to token-passing rules, and reads the on-site sensor and valve status data collected by each I/O module.

  3. Backplane Data Interaction: Upload the on-site data collected by the bus to the CPU register through the PLC backplane; simultaneously receive the output control commands issued by the CPU and cache them in the local storage area of the module.

  4. Bus Command Distribution: Forward control commands to corresponding Genius remote I/O nodes within the polling cycle to drive on-site actuators to complete process actions.

  5. Global Data Synchronization for Multiple PLCs: All 90-30 PLCs in the network read and write the global shared data area through CMM301 modules, automatically synchronize preset process parameters and operating status of each unit, and realize cross-PLC interlock control.

  6. Real-time Fault Monitoring: Continuously monitor bus voltage level and node online status. When detecting disconnection, address conflict or node fault, control the COM light to flash, upload fault codes to PLC and trigger system fault alarms.
