Performance characteristics
Powerful protection functions: It is equipped with protection functions such as overcurrent, low current, overheating
and ground fault, and can also perform current imbalance and single-phase detection, effectively preventing the
motor from being damaged due to various electrical faults. It simultaneously supports dual-speed motor protection
and phase overload curves, and can meet the protection requirements of different types of motors. Users can also
adjust the inrush current, cooling rate and/or acceleration of the motor to further optimize the protection
performance.
Measurement and metering functions: It can display information such as kilowatts, kilovolt-amperes, frequencies,
phase voltages, power factors and megawatt-hours. Equipped with an optional metering kit, it can enable the phase
voltage (VT/PT) input on the device, with a maximum VT ratio of 2400:1, and can accept VTs in open triangle or star
connections. The metering options also include three additional analog outputs, and all outputs (including the
standard analog current output of the basic unit) share a common circuit. All these analog outputs can be
programmed on-site.
Good communication capability: Equipped with non-isolated RS232 ports and RS485 ports, it is convenient to
communicate and connect with other devices or systems. Relay-related data can be transmitted to the SCADA system
or workstation, facilitating remote monitoring and management.
Data recording and analysis: It has an event recording function, capable of recording events such as power failure,
alarm, self-test, suppression, and tripping. It can also capture waveforms. When tripping, it can trigger three waveform
records and capture sixteen data cycles, which is helpful for users to analyze the causes of motor faults. The data
generated by the relay can be viewed on its liquid crystal display or through a computer running the EnerVista 369
software program for trend analysis.
Fast response speed: The time delay of the differential switch is less than 200ms, which can respond quickly when the
motor malfunctions, promptly cut off the circuit or issue an alarm signal, reducing the damage caused by the fault to
the motor.
Wide adaptability: The rated control power supply is 50-300 VDC or 60-265 VAC, which can adapt to a relatively wide
range of power input. The operating temperature range is -40 ℃ to + 60℃, and the storage temperature range is
-40 ℃ to + 80℃. It can work in various harsh environments, and the maximum altitude it can adapt to is up to 2000
meters.
Mainly by monitoring parameters such as current, voltage and temperature of the motor in real time and comparing
them with preset thresholds, and controlling the action of internal contacts based on the results, multiple protection
functions are achieved. Specifically as follows:
Overcurrent protection: When the motor current exceeds the set value, the relay will determine it as an overload fault.
At this point, the electromagnetic coil inside the relay generates a magnetic field, causing the switch contacts to act
and cut off the power supply to the motor, preventing the motor from being damaged due to overload.
Overheat protection: Monitor the temperature changes inside or outside the motor through the built-in temperature
sensor. When the motor temperature exceeds the set value, a protection action is triggered. Similarly, the internal
contacts are controlled to disconnect the circuit to prevent the motor from burning out due to overheating.
Overvoltage/undervoltage protection: Continuously monitor the power supply voltage of the motor. When the voltage
exceeds or falls below the rated voltage, the relay determines that it is an overvoltage or undervoltage fault and then
cuts off the power supply to the motor to prevent damage to the motor due to abnormal voltage.
Phase loss protection: Real-time detection of the three-phase current of the motor. When one phase of the
three-phase current is missing, the relay identifies it as a phase loss fault and quickly cuts off the power supply to the
motor, protecting the motor from damage caused by phase loss operation.
Ground fault protection: By detecting the zero-sequence current in the motor circuit, when a ground fault occurs and
the zero-sequence current reaches the set value, the relay will act to cut off the power supply, preventing ground faults
from causing safety accidents or equipment damage.
Current imbalance protection: It monitors the balance state of the three-phase current of the motor. When the
imbalance degree of the three-phase current exceeds the preset value, it is considered that there is a fault. The relay
will issue an alarm signal or cut off the power supply to prevent the motor from being damaged due to current
imbalance.
Application scenarios
In the manufacturing industry, during the process of CNC mechanical processing, it can ensure the stable operation of
the motor, and provide timely protection against faults such as overcurrent and overheating, avoiding the decline in
processing accuracy or equipment damage caused by motor failures. In the automotive manufacturing production line,
it can provide protection for various conveyor motors, assembly motors, etc., ensuring the continuity and reliability of
the production line, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
Energy industry: In power generation facilities, it can be used for the protection and monitoring of fan motors, feed
water pump motors, etc. It can monitor the operating status of the motor in real time, promptly identify potential
faults, ensure the normal operation of power generation equipment, and improve power generation efficiency. In the
field of oil and gas extraction, it can be applied to the motors of oil pumping units, water injection pumps, etc.,
adapting to harsh working environments and preventing motor faults such as overload and short circuit from affecting
oil and gas extraction operations. In substations, the motors of cooling fans and dehumidification equipment within
the station can be protected to ensure the normal operating environment of substation equipment.
In the chemical industry, during the chemical production process, many reaction vessel stirring motors, material convey
ing motors, etc. need to operate reliably. This relay can prevent the motor from malfunctioning due to corrosive gases,
dust and other factors in the chemical environment, and at the same time monitor the electrical parameters of the
motor to ensure the safety and stability of the production process.
In the water treatment industry: In scenarios such as pump, water tank, well and reservoir control, it can effectively
protect the pump motor, prevent motor damage caused by abnormal water level, motor overload and other reasons,
and ensure the normal water supply of the water treatment system. In the wastewater lifting station and the rainstorm
water monitoring system, the operation status of the motor can be monitored in real time to ensure the timely
treatment and discharge of wastewater and prevent environmental problems such as sewage overflow.
Commercial buildings: In large commercial buildings, it can be used for the protection of equipment such as fan
motors and elevator motors in air conditioning systems. Ensure that these motors are stable and reliable during
long-term operation, providing a comfortable environment and convenient transportation for commercial buildings,
reducing equipment maintenance costs and the impact on commercial operations.
