Cold-rolled steel coil (referred to as cold coil for short) is a metal coil material made by taking hot-rolled steel coil as the raw material, removing oxide scale through pickling, and then performing continuous rolling at room temperature (below the recrystallization temperature). When delivered in sheets, it is called cold-rolled steel plate; when delivered in coils, it is called cold-rolled steel strip. With precise dimensional control and excellent surface quality, it is widely used in precision manufacturing scenarios in various industries.

II. Production Process Flow

Hot-rolled coil → Pickling (oxide scale removal) → Cold rolling (continuous cold rolling) → Annealing (optional) → Temper rolling → Finishing → Finished coil

  • Core: Full-process non-heated rolling effectively avoids high-temperature oxidation, no oxide scale remains on the surface, and the dimensional accuracy is much higher than that of hot-rolled products.

  • Key processes: Annealing (restores material plasticity, eliminates work hardening generated during cold rolling, and improves formability); Temper rolling (corrects shape deviation, refines surface roughness, further improves surface quality, and meets subsequent processing needs).

III. Core Specifications and Parameters (Executive Standards: GB/T 708-2019, GB/T 5213-2019)

1. Dimension Range

  • Thickness: 0.15–4.0 mm (common specifications: 0.3–2.0 mm, suitable for most conventional manufacturing needs)

  • Width: 500–2000 mm (common specifications: 800–1850 mm, special widths can be customized according to customer needs)

  • Inner diameter: 508 mm (20”)、610 mm (24”), in line with industry universal equipment adaptation standards

  • Coil weight: 3–15 tons (maximum up to 45 tons, coil weight can be adjusted according to transportation and usage needs)

2. Dimensional Accuracy (Thickness Tolerance)

  • Ordinary accuracy (PT.A): ±0.03~±0.05 mm, suitable for ordinary stamping and structural part production with low precision requirements.

  • High precision (PT.B): ±0.015~±0.025 mm (preferred for high-end manufacturing), suitable for precision components such as home appliance casings and automotive inner panels.

3. Surface Quality

  • Surface finish: Ra ≤ 1.2 μm, the surface is free of pits, oxide scale and scratches, with uniform roughness, and can be directly subjected to surface treatments such as spraying and electroplating.

  • Surface grade: FB (ordinary), FC (high-grade), FD (super high-grade), among which FC and FD grade surfaces can meet scenarios with high appearance requirements such as home appliances and automotive outer panels.

  • 2. Structural grade: Q235B, Q355B, with a yield strength of 235–355 MPa, stable mechanical properties, suitable for load-bearing scenarios such as brackets, chassis, and building structural parts.

  • 3. High-strength steel: DP590/780/980, HC340/590DP, with a yield strength of 340–900 MPa, high strength and light weight, used for lightweight components such as automotive anti-collision beams and body frames.

  • Diverse processing performance: It can easily realize processing processes such as shearing, bending, stamping, welding, and stretching, adapt to complex forming needs, and has strong versatility.

VI. Main Application Fields

  • 1. Automotive industry: Body inner and outer panels, doors, hoods, chassis parts, anti-collision beams, seat brackets, etc. DC04 and DP series high-strength steel are preferred to balance safety and lightweight.

  • 2. Home appliance industry: Refrigerator/washing machine casings, air conditioner panels, microwave oven inner containers, water heater backplanes, rice cooker casings, etc. FC/FD grade surfaces and DC01/DC03 grades are selected to balance appearance and formability.

  • 3. Precision machinery: Motor iron cores, precision instrument casings, bearing seats, small stamping parts, medical device accessories, and other scenarios requiring high precision and high surface quality.

  • 4. Construction/decoration: Suspended ceilings, partitions, elevator door panels, color coating substrates, galvanizing substrates, door and window frames, etc. Different surface grades and thicknesses can be selected according to needs.

  • 5. Others: Food cans, steel furniture, electronic cabinets, hardware tools, pipe fittings, etc., covering multiple fields of daily production and life.

VII. Packaging and Delivery

  • Packaging: Adopt double-layer packaging of anti-rust paper + plastic film, and the outer layer is bound and fixed with galvanized steel strips. Protective plates are added at the coil ends to effectively prevent rain, moisture and collision, ensuring that the product surface is not damaged during transportation.

  • Delivery state: Three options: annealed (S), cold-rolled hard (H), temper rolled (T); edge-cut (EC) or non-edge-cut (EM), which can be customized according to customer processing needs.

  • Delivery cycle: The delivery cycle for regular orders is 5-7 days. For special specifications (customized dimensions, special grades, large-volume orders), it needs to be appropriately adjusted according to the production schedule, and confirmed in advance through communication.

  • Quality certificate: Each batch of products is provided with a Certificate of Conformity (COC), which details indicators such as chemical composition, mechanical properties, surface quality, and dimensional deviation to ensure traceability of product quality.

VIII. Storage and Transportation Notes

  • Storage: It should be stored in an indoor dry and ventilated environment, avoiding rain, moisture, sun exposure and contact with corrosive gases; the coil material should be stored on a raised platform to prevent bottom compression deformation, and the stacking height should not be too high.

  • Transportation: The coil material should be placed flat and fixed on the transport vehicle to avoid tilting, collision and extrusion; a rain cloth should be covered during transportation to prevent moisture and rust caused by rain, ensuring the product is delivered intact.
