1.Components of the Complete Flow Measurement Throttling Device

The KOF200YC Mechanical Flow Monitor is a differential pressure-based flow measurement device. Its complete structure consists of the following four main components:

       (1) Throttling Element

       As the core component that generates the differential pressure, a wide variety of types are available to suit different media characteristics and measurement requirements, including:

    • Standard Throttling Elements: Standard orifice plate, standard nozzle, long-radius nozzle, Venturi nozzle, standard Venturi tube.

    • Special Throttling Elements: Quarter-circle orifice plate, segmental orifice plate, dual orifice plate, pipe-end orifice plate, lens orifice plate, conical entrance orifice plate, multi-hole orifice plate, eccentric orifice plate, wear-resistant orifice plate, restriction orifice plate.

    • Integrated/Insertion Throttling Elements: Integral orifice plate, embedded Venturi tube, insertion Venturi tube, etc.

    • (2) Pressure Tapping Assembly

    Responsible for accurately extracting the pressure signal from upstream and downstream of the throttling element. Common types include:

    • Carrier ring corner pressure taps

    • Flange pressure taps

    • Corner drilling pressure taps

    • Radius distance pressure taps

      (3)Fastening Assembly
      Ensures the entire device is sealed and securely mounted on the pipeline, mainly consisting of:

    • Flanges, bolts, nuts, gaskets

      (4)Accessories
      Essential auxiliary parts to form a complete measurement loop, mainly including:

    • Impulse lines (lead pipes)

    • Root valves (shut-off valves)

    2.Working Principle and System Configuration

      The KOF200YC itself is a non-graduated flow measurement device and does not directly display flow values. Its working principle is: when fluid flows through the throttling element installed in the pipeline, a differential pressure proportional to the square of the flow rate is generated upstream and downstream of the element.

    This device must be used in conjunction with the following instruments to form a complete flow measurement system:

    • Differential Pressure Transmitter: Such as pneumatic, electronic differential pressure transmitters or dual-bellows differential pressure transmitters. They detect the differential pressure generated by the throttling element and convert it into a standard pneumatic signal (e.g., 20-100 kPa) or electronic signal (e.g., 4-20 mA).

    • Secondary Instrument / Controller: Receives the output signal from the transmitter for display, recording, totalization, or regulatory control.

    3.Typical Application Fields

     This device is widely used in industrial processes requiring continuous and reliable measurement of high-temperature, high-pressure fluid flow, especially in:

    • Metallurgical Industry: Flow measurement of blast furnace blast air, coke oven gas, rolling mill heating furnace flue gas, etc.

    • Chemical Industry: Flow measurement of various process gases, steam, corrosive and non-corrosive liquids.

    • Petroleum Industry: Flow measurement of crude oil, refined products, natural gas, refinery process streams.

    • Power Industry: Flow measurement of boiler feedwater, superheated steam, saturated steam, condensate, circulating cooling water, etc.
