1. Product Overview
The KPVF200 Swirl Flowmeter is a high-precision gas flow meter that integrates flow, temperature, and pressure sensors, featuring temperature and pressure compensation and compressibility factor correction. It employs advanced microprocessor technology and intelligent diagnostic algorithms, primarily used for precise measurement of the actual volumetric flow rate, standard volumetric flow rate, and total volume of gaseous media (such as natural gas, town gas, air, nitrogen, etc.) in industrial pipelines.
This product operates based on the "vortex precession" phenomenon in fluid mechanics. With no moving mechanical parts internally, it boasts significant advantages including a compact structure, wide turndown ratio, low pressure loss, good vibration resistance, and low requirements for upstream and downstream straight pipe runs (front 5D, rear 2D). Its powerful self-diagnostic functions and various output options (pulse, 4-20mA, RS485 communication) make it an ideal instrument for gas measurement and trade settlement in industries such as city gas, petrochemicals, power, and metallurgy.
2. Operating Principle
The operating principle of the Swirl Flowmeter is based on the fluid vortex precession phenomenon, which occurs in three stages:
Vortex Generation: When the fluid passes through the vortex generator (a set of fixed helical blades) at the meter's inlet, it is forced to rotate intensely, forming a strong vortex flow advancing along the axis.
Vortex Precession: As this rotating fluid flows through the internal venturi-like channel (first constricting then expanding), due to the specific flow characteristics, the vortex core no longer moves in a straight line. Instead, it undergoes a periodic precessional motion around the pipe axis, similar to a gyroscope "nodding". This phenomenon is called vortex precession.
Signal Detection and Calculation:
Frequency Detection: A piezoelectric sensor installed on the side wall detects the minute pressure fluctuations caused by the vortex precession and converts them into electrical pulse signals proportional to the volumetric flow rate.
Temperature and Pressure Compensation: Built-in PT100 temperature sensor and pressure sensor collect real-time fluid temperature and pressure data.
Totalizing Calculation: The intelligent totalizer receives the frequency signal, temperature, and pressure data. It performs compressibility factor correction and temperature/pressure compensation calculations using an internal mathematical model, ultimately converting them into standard condition volume flow and total volume, displayed on the LCD screen.
