Introduction to PTCRB Certification Process, Cycle, and Standards
PTCRB Certification Introduction
PTCRB, short for PCS Type Certification Review Board, was initially established by North American mobile operators. Currently, its member operators are no longer limited to North America but cover mobile operators worldwide. To ensure that communication equipment can operate on the mobile networks of PTCRB member operators and to guarantee product compatibility with operator network mobile standards, the equipment needs to undergo PTCRB certification and obtain a certification license issued by PTCRB.
PTCRB Certification Process
1. The manufacturer submits certification requirements, uploads technical documents, and selects a master laboratory in the PTCRB certification database.
2. The PTCRB certification database sends a notification email to the master laboratory.
3. Upon receiving the notification email, the master laboratory accepts the certification requirements in the PTCRB certification database.
4. The manufacturer provides samples and technical documents to the master laboratory, which arranges testing.
5. After testing, the master laboratory uploads all test reports to the PTCRB certification database.
6. CTIA reviews the test reports and technical documents.
7. Upon successful review and receipt of certification fees from the manufacturer, CTIA sends emails to all operators notifying them that the product has passed certification and lists it in the PTCRB certification database.
PTCRB Certification Document Preparation
After testing, the project manager needs to fill in and upload the following results to the PTCRB certification database:
Final HW Version
Final SW Version (including SVN)
NAPRD.03 Version
GCFVersion (if the product supports the GCF band)
IMEI (8-digit TAC code + yyyyy, e.g., 12345678yyyyyy)
Applicable Standard Version (e.g., 3GPP standard version, OMA standard version, CTIAOTATestPlan version, etc.)
