Incoloy 926(UNS N08926/W.Nr. 1.4529) stainless steel is a superaustenitic (highly alloyed) stainless steel formulated for primary forming into wrought products. N08926 is the UNS number for this material. Alloy 926 is the common industry name. 1.4529 grade stainless steel has a high tensile strength which can be classified as nickel alloys (according to American standards). Delivered in the supersaturated state exhibits resistance to intercrystalline, pitting, and stress corrosion, salt, sea water, chloride, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and other aggressive chemicals in high concentrations in liquid and gaseous form.Materials of 1.4529 grade, except high chemical resistance, can work at elevated temperatures while maintaining adequate mechanical properties.Ignoring the high content of nickel and chromium, the standard also specifies a relatively large amount of Molybdenum and Nitrogen, which is particularly worthwhile when selecting grade from the related group of high alloy steels.Significantly higher percentages of Nitrogen and Molybdenum contribute to limiting the creation of intermetallic phases, as well as improving the impact resistance.

Alloy 904L (N08904) Stainless Steel

Alloy 904L (N08904) is a super austenitic stainless steel that is designed for moderate to high corrosion resistance in a wide range of process environments. The combination of high chromium and nickel contents, coupled with additions of molybdenum and copper, assure good to excellent corrosion resistance. With its highly alloyed chemistry—25% nickel and 4.5% molybdenum, 904L provides good chloride stress corrosion cracking resistance, pitting and general corrosion resistance superior to 316L and 317L molybdenum enhanced stainless steels. Alloy 904L was originally developed to withstand environments containing dilute sulfuric acid. Consequently, it has proven successful in handling a number of other process chemicals as well as pressure equipment in the chemical processing industry.
