German Technical Background VOK-P104 Wetting Dispersant Prevent Floating Color and Blossoming Replaces BYK-P104
German technical background VOK ®- Disper P104 Wetting Dispersant
VOK ®- Disper P104 is used as a controlled flocculating wetting and dispersing agent for solvent based medium to high polarity coatings to prevent the floating color of titanium dioxide when mixed with color pigments.
Product Information
Chemical composition
Solution of low molecular weight unsaturated polycarboxylic acid polymer.
Typical Physicochemical Data
The data given in this data page are only typical values, not technical indicators of the product.
Acid value: 180 mg KOH/g
Density (20 ° C): 0.95 g/ml
Non volatile matter (10min, 150 ° C): 50%
Solvent: benzol/diisobutyl ketone 9/1
Flash point: 28 ° C
Storage and transportation
During transportation and storage, delamination and turbidity may occur, which shall be heated to 30-60 ° C and thoroughly mixed before use.
Special reminder
The compatibility is limited in the paint system with gasoline solvent as solvent or diluted with gasoline solvent. The auxiliary agent also has solvent free varieties, namely VOK ®- Disper P105。
Application field
Coating industry
Features and Benefits
VOK ®- Disper P104 can provide a desired controlled flocculation of pigments, and build a bridge between pigment particles to form a three-dimensional network structure. This controlled flocculation of pigment effectively prevents floating color, blooming, sedimentation and sagging. VOK ®- Disper P104 is particularly suitable for medium to high polarity paint systems to prevent the floating color of titanium dioxide when mixed with color pigments. It has limited compatibility with gasoline solvents. In many cases, when used as an anti-corrosion primer, the corrosion resistance is improved.
Recommended dosage
The amount of additives (purchase form) is based on:
Inorganic pigment: 3-10%
Titanium dioxide: 0.5-2.5%
Organic pigment: 10-20%
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the appropriate dosage shall be determined through a series of tests.
Adding method and processing guidance
In order to obtain good performance, additives must be added to the grinding material first, and then the pigment.
