German technical background VOK®-FL 356 leveling agent
VOK®-FL 356 is a polyacrylate-based surface additive for solventborne, solvent-free and powder coatings to improve leveling. Solvent-free version of VOK®-FL 355.
Product information
Chemical composition
Polyacrylate
Typical physicochemical data
The data presented on this data page is typical and not a product specification.
Density (20 °C): 1.05 g/ml
Special considerations
The additive is thermally stable and decomposes up to 240 °C. The 52% propylene glycol methyl ether acetate solution of this additive is VOK®-FL 355.
Application areas
Liquid coatings
Product Features & Benefits The additive is used as an anti-crater and leveling additive for a variety of solventborne and solvent-free coatings. Increases gloss and creates a long-wave effect. Slightly reduces surface tension without affecting recoating and interlayer adhesion.
Recommended dosage
0.05-0.7% Additive dosage (purchased form) is based on total formulation.
The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the appropriate dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Addition method and processing guidance
The additive can be added at any stage of the production process, including post-adding.
Powder coating
Product Features & Benefits The additive combines excellent crater resistance, good leveling and DOI (vividness). Protects against powder-coated fisheyes and pinholes. The additive does not cause haze of pigmented powder coatings or cloudiness of powder varnish coatings. Its low viscosity and good compatibility make it easy to add to resins in the production of masterbatches.
Recommended Use
The additive is recommended for the production of resin masterbatches for powder coatings, especially powder varnish coatings.
Recommended dosage
0.5-15% additive dosage (purchased form) is based on resin. The above recommended dosage is for reference, and the appropriate dosage needs to be determined through a series of tests.
Addition method and processing guidance
The additive is added at the final stage of the powder coating resin production process and mixed with the resin.
