1. Product Definition & Core Overview

Boiler steel plate refers to special hot-rolled pressure-bearing steel plate exclusive for boilers, a special heat-resistant material for special equipment. It is specially manufactured for high-temperature & high-pressure pressure components of power station boilers, industrial steam boilers and waste heat boilers, including boiler drums, headers, heads, furnace shells and heat exchangers. Operating continuously under harsh conditions of high temperature, high pressure, steam corrosion and alternating thermal load, boiler plates impose strict limits on harmful impurities such as sulfur and phosphorus compared with ordinary structural steel plates. It features stable high-temperature stress rupture strength, excellent high-temperature creep resistance, superior impact toughness at both room and low temperature, outstanding weldability and lamellar tear resistance. All products must pass mandatory impact test and full ultrasonic non-destructive testing before delivery, fully complying with special equipment safety supervision codes. The product range consists of three series: medium & room-temperature carbon boiler plates, low-alloy heat-resistant boiler plates for high temperature, and hydrogen corrosion resistant special boiler plates. Different heat treatment delivery states are available to match boilers of various temperature and pressure grades.

3.1 Classification by Service Temperature

(1) Medium & Room-Temperature Carbon Boiler Plates (≤450℃)

  • Q245R: Basic carbon boiler plate, upgraded replacement of old grade 20G, yield strength ≥245MPa. Suitable for civil heating boilers, small low-pressure industrial steam boilers and atmospheric heat exchange equipment.

  • Q345R: Most widely used universal grade with balanced strength and toughness, applied to medium-pressure industrial boilers, waste heat boiler shells and common heat exchangers.

(2) Low-Alloy Heat-Resistant Boiler Plates for High Temperature (450℃~550℃)

  • 15CrMoR, 14Cr1MoR: Cr-Mo heat-resistant material with excellent high-temperature creep strength, used for medium & high-temperature power station drums, petrochemical heating boilers and hydrogenation furnace shells.

  • 12Cr2Mo1R, 16Mo3: High Cr-Mo alloy boiler plates, designed for high-temperature & high-pressure power station boilers and cracking heating pressure shells.

(3) Special Anti-Corrosion Boiler Plates

  • Q345R(HIC): Hydrogen-induced cracking resistant boiler plate, dedicated to boilers with hydrogen sulfide medium and hydrogen service conditions.

  1. TMCP Thermo-Mechanical Controlled Rolling: Standard delivery for thin & medium plates with moderate cost and uniform microstructure.

  2. N Normalized: Grain refinement improves low-temperature impact property, standard choice for medium-heavy plates and boilers with frequent cold & hot startup/shutdown cycles.

  3. N+T Normalized + Tempered: Eliminates rolling residual stress and delivers superior high-temperature stability, specially for thick-wall high-temperature alloy boiler plates.

  4. Q+T Quenched & Tempered: Ultra-high strength heavy plates for large high-pressure power station boilers and heavy-duty pressure furnace shells.

9. Processing, Welding & Operation Specifications

  1. Matched dedicated welding consumables must be used for carbon and Cr-Mo alloy boiler plates; Cr-Mo alloy plates require strict pre-heating before welding and post-weld stress relief tempering to avoid weld cracking under high-temperature operation.

  2. Sharp tool indentation shall be avoided during plate rolling and head spinning to prevent stress concentration and fatigue cracks under high-temperature service.

  3. Q345R(HIC) hydrogen-resistant plates are mandatory for boilers with hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen medium; ordinary Q345R cannot be substituted.

  4. Heavy-wall boiler shells with thickness ≥30mm require secondary ultrasonic inspection after plate delivery and equipment fabrication to confirm zero internal defects.

  5. Regular wall thickness and metallographic inspection shall be conducted on Cr-Mo boiler components serving above 500℃ long-term to prevent high-temperature creep failure.

  6. Hydrostatic test of finished boilers shall be carried out at 1.25 times design pressure with stable holding pressure; commissioning is permitted only with zero leakage and no plastic deformation.

10. Packaging, Certification & Customization Services

10.1 Standard Packaging

Thin plates are coated with single-side anti-rust film; medium & heavy plates are separated by wooden blocks and fully bundled with multiple steel straps. Edge protection strips are equipped to prevent collision and scratch damage during transportation. Each plate is clearly steel-stamped with material grade, dimension, heat batch number and UT grade for full production traceability. Moisture-proof rain-proof wooden pallets are adopted for export orders.

10.2 Complete Factory Certification Documents

Full set of original delivery documents: factory material certificate, spectral chemical report, tensile & impact mechanical test report, ultrasonic inspection report, cold bending test record and product qualification certificate. Third-party inspection by SGS and BV is available to meet domestic boiler supervision inspection and overseas ASME / EU pressure equipment export clearance requirements.

10.3 Customization Services

Custom non-standard thickness & extra-wide width, arbitrary fixed-length cutting, finished bevel processing and shot blasting rust removal. TMCP, normalized, normalized+tempered, quenched+tempered and HIC-resistant special delivery states are optional.
