Basic Information
Sodium gluconate is abbreviated as sodium gluconate. It is an eco-friendly polyol chelating and retarding additive refined via glucose fermentation and neutralization. Biodegradable and non-toxic, sodium gluconate is widely used in concrete admixture compounding, industrial circulating water treatment, metal cleaning and building material retarding. With powerful chelating ability for metal ions such as calcium, magnesium and iron, sodium gluconate accurately controls cement hydration speed and matches perfectly with PCE, SNF, SMF and other superplasticizers. Chloride-free and low-alkali, sodium gluconate avoids steel corrosion and alkali-aggregate reaction, acting as an indispensable retarding material for high-temperature construction and mass concrete temperature control projects.
Product Overview
Sodium gluconate is white or pale yellow crystalline powder with excellent water solubility, dissolving rapidly completely in normal-temperature water to form clear solution without sediment. Relying on hydroxyl and carboxyl groups, sodium gluconate chelates calcium ions in cement liquid phase and forms dense barrier film on cement particles to delay early hydration and prevent rapid slump loss and premature setting under high temperature. In mass concrete pouring, sodium gluconate balances hydration heat, reduces internal and external temperature difference and restrains thermal shrinkage cracking. In water treatment, it blocks carbonate crystallization to realize scale inhibition and water softening. Featuring mild and stable chemical property, acid and alkali resistance and good compatibility with most chemical additives, sodium gluconate resists moisture caking under sealed storage for long-term stable use in continuous industrial production and on-site concrete mixing.

Eco-friendly and multi-scene safety: Made from bio-fermented raw materials, sodium gluconate is biodegradable, chlorine-free and low-alkali. It is applicable to construction, water treatment and metal cleaning with safe compliance and zero residual pollution.
Application Methods
Ready-mix concrete high-temperature construction: Add sodium gluconate during admixture compounding and adjust dosage according to temperature and transportation distance to slow hydration and guarantee smooth long-distance pumping.
Mass hydraulic and bridge engineering: Mix sodium gluconate into concrete to disperse hydration heat, prevent temperature cracking and ensure structural integrity and long-term stability.
Industrial circulating water treatment: Dissolve sodium gluconate to chelate calcium and magnesium ions, prevent scale buildup on pipelines and equipment and extend service life of facilities.
Metal cleaning and surface treatment: Prepare cleaning solution with sodium gluconate to remove rust and oxide layers gently without damaging base metal, suitable for electroplating pretreatment and equipment derusting.
