Basic Information
Sodium gluconate is abbreviated as sodium gluconate. It is an eco-friendly polyol chelating and retarding additive refined via glucose fermentation and neutralization. Biodegradable and non-toxic, sodium gluconate is widely used in concrete admixture compounding, industrial circulating water treatment, metal cleaning and building material retarding. With powerful chelating ability for metal ions such as calcium, magnesium and iron, sodium gluconate accurately controls cement hydration speed and matches perfectly with PCE, SNF, SMF and other superplasticizers. Chloride-free and low-alkali, sodium gluconate avoids steel corrosion and alkali-aggregate reaction, acting as an indispensable retarding material for high-temperature construction and mass concrete temperature control projects.
Product Overview
Sodium gluconate is white or pale yellow crystalline powder with excellent water solubility, dissolving rapidly completely in normal-temperature water to form clear solution without sediment. Relying on hydroxyl and carboxyl groups, sodium gluconate chelates calcium ions in cement liquid phase and forms dense barrier film on cement particles to delay early hydration and prevent rapid slump loss and premature setting under high temperature. In mass concrete pouring, sodium gluconate balances hydration heat, reduces internal and external temperature difference and restrains thermal shrinkage cracking. In water treatment, it blocks carbonate crystallization to realize scale inhibition and water softening. Featuring mild and stable chemical property, acid and alkali resistance and good compatibility with most chemical additives, sodium gluconate resists moisture caking under sealed storage for long-term stable use in continuous industrial production and on-site concrete mixing.
