1. Product Overview

High-pressure boiler tubes are special seamless steel pipes designed for high-pressure working conditions and serve as core pressure-bearing components for power station boilers and industrial high-pressure thermal equipment. Different from ordinary low-pressure boiler tubes, they operate stably under severe working conditions of high temperature, high pressure, high creep and steam oxidation corrosion. Featuring seamless structure, dense texture and excellent pressure stability, the product is mainly used to manufacture key components such as heating surfaces and steam transmission systems of high-pressure, ultra-high-pressure, subcritical and supercritical boilers. As a core safety material for power, petrochemical and energy equipment, it directly affects the operational stability and service life of equipment.

Conventional operating conditions: working pressure ≥ 9.8MPa, working temperature ranging from 450℃ to 650℃. High-end alloy grades can adapt to ultra-high temperature conditions up to 700℃, possessing excellent high-temperature rupture strength, creep resistance, oxidation corrosion resistance and structural stability.

2. Implementation Standards

The products strictly comply with mainstream domestic and international industrial standards. The latest domestic standard implemented is GB/T 5310-2023 Seamless Steel Tubes for High-pressure Boilers (replacing the old version GB/T 5310-2017). Custom products conforming to international standards are available to meet the needs of foreign trade and overseas projects.

General supporting standards: ASME SA-106, ASME SA-213, DIN 17175, EN 10216, which satisfy the bidding and acceptance requirements of domestic and foreign power and petrochemical projects.

3. Main Materials and Applicable Working Conditions

High-pressure boiler tubes are classified by high-temperature resistance and pressure bearing grade, covering three major categories: high-quality carbon steel, low-alloy chromium-molybdenum steel and high-alloy heat-resistant steel. The mainstream grades and applicable scenarios are as follows:

  • 20G (High-quality Carbon Steel): The most commonly used basic material with uniform structure, excellent plasticity and toughness, and good weldability. It is suitable for low-temperature and high-pressure components such as economizers, low-temperature superheaters and water walls of medium and high-pressure boilers, with an applicable temperature ≤ 480℃, meeting the basic working conditions of conventional thermal power plants and industrial high-pressure boilers.

  • 15CrMoG (Low-alloy Chromium-molybdenum Steel): Alloyed with chromium and molybdenum elements, it has significantly improved high-temperature oxidation resistance and creep resistance, with better high-temperature and high-pressure performance than 20G. It is applied to high-temperature superheaters, reheaters and high-temperature & high-pressure steam pipelines, with an applicable temperature of 500℃-550℃, widely used in small and medium-sized high-pressure power station boilers.

  • 12Cr1MoVG (High-performance Chromium-molybdenum Alloy Steel): A mainstream high-end heat-resistant tube material in China with optimized alloy ratio, excellent high-temperature rupture strength, thermal stability and outstanding fatigue and creep resistance. It is applicable to high-temperature heating surfaces and main steam pipelines of ultra-high-pressure and subcritical boilers, with an applicable temperature of 550℃-580℃, widely used in large-scale thermal power units.

  • T91/P91, T92/P92 (High-alloy Heat-resistant Steel): High-end imported materials with a maximum temperature resistance of 650℃-700℃, featuring superior pressure bearing, corrosion resistance and creep resistance. They are suitable for core components of supercritical and ultra-supercritical large-scale power station boilers, serving as special supporting tubes for high-end thermal power and nuclear power projects.

4. Specification Parameters

4.1 Dimension Range

Manufactured by two molding processes: hot rolling and cold drawing. Full-range specifications are covered with outer diameter from 16mm to 630mm and wall thickness from 2.0mm to 80mm. Non-standard special sizes can be customized.

4.2 Dimensional Accuracy

Strictly in accordance with national standard tolerance requirements, the outer diameter tolerance is controlled within ±0.05mm, and the wall thickness uniformity deviation is ≤ 5%. The tubes feature high straightness and burr-free flat end faces, ensuring tight installation and uniform pressure bearing of pipelines.

4.3 Conventional Length

Standard fixed lengths are 6m, 9m and 12m. Custom arbitrary fixed lengths and multiple lengths are available to reduce on-site splicing procedures.

5. Production Process and Quality Control

5.1 Core Production Process

Adopting high-quality tube billets as raw materials, the whole standardized production process includes piercing, hot rolling/cold drawing, finishing, heat treatment, straightening, cutting, flaw detection and precision inspection. All tubes undergo integral normalizing and tempering heat treatment to eliminate processing stress and refine metallographic structure, ensuring no structural distortion and performance attenuation under high-temperature working conditions.

5.2 Non-destructive Testing Control

100% full inspection of finished products, including ultrasonic testing (UT) and hydrostatic testing. X-ray testing (RT) is additionally conducted for high-end products to completely eliminate internal defects such as cracks, pores, interlayers and porosity, avoiding potential pressure-bearing safety hazards.

5.3 Hydrostatic Test Parameters

Each tube is subjected to high-pressure hydrostatic testing with test pressure accurately matched according to pipe diameter and wall thickness. Sufficient pressure holding time is guaranteed to ensure no leakage or deformation of the tube and qualified pressure bearing performance.

The products are widely used in high-end energy pressure-bearing equipment, with core application scenarios as follows:

  • Power Industry: Core components of high-pressure, ultra-high-pressure and supercritical boilers in thermal power plants, including economizers, superheaters, reheaters, main steam pipelines and headers;

Products are bundled and reinforced with steel strips to avoid collision damage during transportation. Each batch is accompanied by complete quality certificates, including material spectrum test report, mechanical property test report, non-destructive test report and hydrostatic test report, realizing full traceability and supporting project acceptance.
