Product Description of Shipbuilding Steel Plate
1. Product Overview
Shipbuilding Steel Plate is hot rolled steel plate manufactured in accordance with classification society specifications, specially applied to hull structures and offshore engineering projects. Featuring high tensile strength, outstanding seawater corrosion resistance, superior low-temperature toughness, excellent fatigue resistance and favorable weldability, it is widely used for ocean-going, coastal and inland vessels as well as offshore platforms, jacket structures and other marine facilities.
2. Applicable Standards
Chinese National Standard: GB 712-2011 Structural Steel for Ships and Offshore Engineering
International Classification Society Approval: CCS, ABS, BV, DNV, LR, NK, KR, RINA and other mainstream classification society specifications.
3. Material Grades & Chemical Composition
Ship plates are divided into ordinary strength steel and high-strength steel based on minimum yield strength.
3.1 Ordinary Strength Ship Plate (Minimum Yield Strength ≥235MPa)
Grades: A, B, D, E (CCSA / CCSB / CCSD / CCSE); low-temperature impact toughness improves sequentially from Grade A to Grade E.Typical Chemical Composition (wt%):
Grade A: C≤0.21, Mn≥2.5×C, Si≤0.50, S≤0.035, P≤0.035
Grade E: C≤0.18, Mn 0.90–1.60, Si≤0.50, S≤0.025, P≤0.025; low sulfur & phosphorus for superior low-temperature toughness.
3.2 High-Strength Ship Plate (Yield Strength: 315~390MPa)
Grades: AH32/AH36/AH40, DH32/DH36/DH40, EH32/EH36/EH40, FH32/FH36/FH40. Letter A/D/E/F stands for low-temperature performance while figures refer to yield strength grade.Alloy elements such as Nb, V, Ti are added for grain refinement; carbon equivalent Ceq ≤0.36% for plates below 50mm thickness to balance weldability and mechanical toughness.

Thickness: Regular 8–60mm; up to 150mm for offshore engineering service per GB712
Width: 1220–4200mm, common sizes:1500/1800/2000/2400mm
Length:5000–18000mm, customized fixed length available
Delivery Condition:Grade A/B: As Rolled (AR)Grade D: Controlled Rolling (CR) or Normalized (N)Grade E & high-strength grades such as AH36/EH36: Normalized (N) or TMCP to guarantee low-temperature toughness and qualified UT inspection rate.

6. Core Advantages
High mechanical strength: Yield strength ranges 235–390MPa to bear wave impact and structural load for hull safety.
Excellent low-temperature toughness: Grade E/F maintains stable impact property at -40℃, suitable for polar & frigid sea routes.
Good seawater corrosion resistance: Low S&P design plus trace alloying improves anti-corrosion performance under humid and marine environment for longer service life.
Superior weldability: Low carbon equivalent fits submerged arc welding & manual arc welding for hull fabrication; welded joint strength matches base metal.
Anti-lamellar tearing: Plates over 15mm thickness can be supplied with Z-direction property (Z25/Z35) to avoid lamination crack during heavy welding.
7. Application Scope
Hull construction: Shell plate, bottom plate, deck, bulkhead, side shell, inner lining for cargo & ballast tank
Vessel types: Bulk carrier, container ship, oil tanker, LNG carrier, fishing boat, inland barge
Offshore project: Offshore drilling platform, jacket, platform leg, marine storage tank, pipeline support structure
Marine auxiliary: Base for marine crane, windlass, winch and related pipe supports
8. Quality Assurance & Packing
Certification: Classification society certificate, mill test certificate, UT/MT inspection report, Z-property report available upon request.
Packing: Bundled with moisture-proof wrapping; antirust paint coated on plate ends; marked with steel grade, dimension, heat number and classification society logo; single bundle weight 3–5 tons suitable for sea & land transportation.
9. Delivery & Service
Origin: Liaocheng Shandong, Tianjin and other major production bases with abundant spot inventory, delivery within 5–7 working days.
Loading Ports: Tianjin Port, Qingdao Port, Shanghai Port, Lianyungang for worldwide shipment.
Customization: Special thickness, Z-grade, UT standard and customized chemical composition available per classification society rules; bilingual English-Chinese certification and full technical support provided.
