Detailed Specification of Rebar (Hot-Rolled Ribbed Steel Bar)

I. Product Definition

Rebar, commonly known as Hot-Rolled Ribbed Steel Bar, refers to steel reinforcement formed through hot-rolling process with two longitudinal ribs and crescent-shaped transverse ribs on the surface. It relies on the mechanical interlocking effect between the ribs and concrete to significantly enhance the shear and tensile performance of structures. As one of the most widely used steel products in construction engineering, it is extensively applied in load-bearing components of various reinforced concrete structures.

II. Core Technical Parameters

1. Material & Strength Grades

• National Standard Grades: HRB335, HRB400, HRB500 (corresponding to yield strength ≥335MPa, 400MPa, 500MPa respectively)

• Seismic Grades: HRB400E, HRB500E (marked with "E" after the base grade, requiring compliance with seismic performance indicators: ratio of tensile strength to yield strength ≥1.25, ratio of actual yield strength to specified yield strength ≤1.3, elongation after fracture ≥15%)

• Material Composition: Based on low-carbon alloy steel, the main components are iron and carbon, with alloying elements such as manganese and silicon added to improve strength and toughness.

2. Specifications & Dimensions

• Diameter Range: Common specifications range from Φ6mm to Φ50mm; frequently used engineering sizes include Φ12mm, Φ14mm, Φ16mm, Φ18mm, Φ20mm, Φ22mm, Φ25mm, Φ28mm, Φ32mm

• Length Specifications: Fixed lengths of 9m and 12m, customizable cutting available upon request

• Weight Standard: Theoretical weight calculated by the formula: Weight (kg/m) = 0.00617 × Diameter (mm)². For example, the theoretical weight of Φ25mm rebar is 3.85kg/m

3. Mechanical Properties

• Yield Strength: HRB400 ≥400MPa, HRB500 ≥500MPa

• Tensile Strength: HRB400 ≥540MPa, HRB500 ≥630MPa

• Elongation After Fracture: Ordinary grades ≥16%, seismic grades ≥15%

• Cold Bending Performance: No cracks or delamination on the surface after 180° bending

III. Production Process

1. Raw Material Preparation: Continuous casting billets are selected as raw materials, with chemical composition complying with GB/T 1499.2 standard

2. Heating & Rolling: Billets are heated to 1200-1300℃ in a walking beam heating furnace, then rolled into ribbed steel bars through roughing and finishing mill trains

3. Controlled Cooling: Water quenching cooling process is adopted to control the metallographic structure of rebar, ensuring the matching of strength and toughness

4. Finishing & Packaging: After flying shear cutting to fixed length, cooling and straightening, the products are bundled and packaged by specification

IV. Core Advantages

• High Mechanical Bond Strength: The surface ribs form mechanical interlocking with concrete, effectively transmitting stress and preventing slippage between rebar and concrete

• High Strength & Toughness: Combined with alloying and controlled rolling/cooling processes, it possesses both high yield strength and excellent plasticity/toughness

• Superior Seismic Performance: Seismic grades (Grade E) can significantly improve the deformation resistance of building structures during earthquakes

• Cost-Effectiveness: Low cost per unit strength and high recycling value make it an economical preferred material for building structures

V. Executive Standards

• National Standard: GB/T 1499.2-2018 "Steel for Reinforced Concrete - Part 2: Hot-Rolled Ribbed Steel Bars"

• International Standards: ASTM A615 (American Standard), BS 4449 (British Standard), EN 10080 (European Standard)

VI. Application Fields

• Construction Engineering: Load-bearing components such as beams, columns, slabs, and foundations of residential and commercial buildings

• Infrastructure: Reinforced concrete structures of bridges, tunnels, high-speed railways, subways, and water conservancy projects

• Industrial Facilities: Load-bearing structures of factories, warehouses, power plants, and other heavy-duty buildings

• Other Scenarios: Precast concrete components, steel reinforcement cages, slope support, etc.
