C276 Introduction
Super alloys or high performance alloys are available in a variety of shapes and contain elements in different combinations to obtain a specific result. These alloys are of three types that include iron-based, cobalt-based and
nickel-based alloys. The nickel-based and cobalt-based super alloys are available as cast or wrought based alloys according to composition and application.
Super alloys have good oxidation and creep resistance and can be strengthened by precipitation hardening, solid-solution hardening and work hardening methods. They can also function under high mechanical stress and high temperatures and also in places that require high surface stability.
HASTELLOY(r) C276 is a wrought corrosion-resistant alloy that resists the development of grain boundary precipitates that degrade corrosion resistance.

3. Manufacturing Process
To ensure maximum longevity in acidic environments, our C276 tees undergo a rigorous production cycle:
1. Forming: Cold drawing or hydraulic bulging for seamless tees; advanced plate welding for large-diameter tees.
2. Heat Treatment: Full Solution Annealing (approx. 1150°C) followed by rapid water quenching to restore corrosion resistance and eliminate stress.
3. Surface Finish: Pickling and passivation to ensure a clean, oxide-free surface.
4. Testing: 100% Dimensional inspection, PMI (Material Identification), and X-ray testing (RT) for welded tees.

Key Processing Methods
* Hydraulic Bulging (Cold/Warm Forming): A straight tube blank, slightly larger than the finished diameter, is placed into a
specialized mold and filled with water or oil. Hydraulic pressure is applied from both ends of the pipe while the fluid pressure is simultaneously increased. The metal is forced to expand outward into a cavity, seamlessly forming the branch.
* Hot Extrusion: Ideal for large-diameter or heavy-walled pipes that are too rigid for cold forming. The raw material is heated to forging temperatures and pressed. During pressing, the branch outlet is extruded from the main pipe body, and the wall thickness is carefully adjusted.
* Plate/Welding Fabrication: For custom or exceptionally large sizes, tees can be stamped from steel plates and the halves are joined using precise seam welding.
Manufacturing Stages
1. Material Prep: Steel pipes (or plates) are cut to precise lengths. If working with heavy walls, the ends are beveled to
prepare them for field welding.
2. Forming: The pipe undergoes one of the extrusion or hydraulic bulge methods outlined above.
3. Heat Treatment: The formed tee undergoes heating and controlled cooling (annealing or normalizing) to relieve internal
stresses, improve ductility, and refine the metal's grain structure.
4. Machining & Beveling: Edges are machined to meet specific standards (such as ASME B16.9), ensuring smooth transitions and
perfect alignment during pipeline installation.
5. Quality Control: Fittings undergo rigorous non-destructive testing (NDT), including ultrasonic or X-ray inspection, to detect
internal defects and guarantee structural integrity.
